  • Peaceful, well-kept 112-acre site on the south shore of Rutland Water
  • A 10-minute drive from Oakham and Uppingham; golf club next door
  • Direct access to the walking/bike path around the lake's edge
You may have visited Rutland Water before, but have you ever spent the night right there on its banks? Well, here’s your chance to do just that, because Lyndon Top is spread out over a peaceful 112 acres on the southern shore, with stunning views over the water. And while those views are wonderful, there’s a fair amount more to see around the lake’s shores – so it’s handy that you can set straight out from the site for walks or bike rides on the path that runs all the way around the edge (22 miles in total). On top of that, there’s plenty of choice for other outdoorsy activities, including fly fishing, birdwatching, golf, canoeing and windsurfing (along with boat cruises and lakeside dining if you’re after minimal activity). Think a barbecue at your pitch might be more your kind of thing? Top plan. Barbecues are allowed at Lyndon Top, and you can pick up whatever supplies you need in Oakham or Uppingham (both 10 minutes’ drive), or while out in Stamford (15 minutes). Back at base, it’s a peaceful setup that welcomes families, couples and solo campers (and dogs, if you’d like to bring them) to spacious pitches in a tree-lined field. Handy facilities include picnic tables and a chemical disposal point, along with a very smart and well-equipped modern amenities block that houses stylish toilets and showers, a washing-up area, a family bathroom and accessible facilities, Lyndon Top is not the place for a party of any sort, so the site doesn’t accept bookings from single-sex groups or other non-family groups.

What customers say

Newly renovated park with large sites and beautiful Rutland Water views. Guests rave about the modern, hotel-quality restrooms. Friendly staff and great access for biking/hiking. Minor notes: sinks lacked cold water for brushing, and more shower hooks are desired. Highly recommended, with many planning returns.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Welcome on arrival was very friendly and we was greeted immediately as we were entering the site.
The whole site has had a fantastic make over. Best facilities I have ever come across that are also spotless.
Site layout and signage is well thought out.
Views over Rutland Water.
We were non-electric so had massive amount of space and could choose where we wanted to pitch.
Arrival and departure time on non-electric was also very flexible.
Security barriers also installed for added peace of mind.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

Disliked Only stayed one night but we'll be back.

Just a thought for us motorhomers. As the site continues to develop, possibly add a drive over grey waste point. Just a suggestion not a deal breaker.
