Grab your walking boots, your fishing kit and your dog and get set for some relaxing time in the Derbyshire Dales at Blackbrook Lodge Camping and Caravanning, between the villages of Turnditch and Brailsford. This 12-acre site is well placed for walks and other outdoor activities – the edge of the Peak District National Park is about 20 minutes’ drive away, you can pick up the traffic-free Tissington Trail about 15 minutes away and there’s a good collection of watersports to be had at Carsington Water, 10 minutes away. And the fishing? Well, that’s right there where you’re staying – this site has both a main fishing lake and two ponds filled with carp for lazy days by the water. Away from the ponds, the main camping field is set back from the road and has space for kids to run around freely. Other facilities on site include a small shop for essentials, a washing-up area, toilets and hot showers that are available 24 hours a day. There are several pubs and restaurants within 10 minutes’ drive to keep the tribe fed, or you’re welcome to bring along a barbecue. If you go for the latter option, there’s a farm shop about 10 minutes’ drive away for delicious local goodies, and it’s the same distance to a supermarket for any other essentials. Please note that chocks or levellers may be needed.

Liked Friendly staff and very helpful supplying a fire pit and log kit. Showers and toilets nice and clean. Pretty park area around the fishing lake. Best curry for 2 ever delivered to the site as suggested by the staff. Incredible value.

Disliked Pitches a bit small and backed on to the road so a bit noisy. Lots of seasonal pitches and ground work going on but hopefully will be nice when complete.

Liked This is the second time of staying here! Good location to use as a base to visit Ashbourne, Carsington Waters, Wirksworth and Matlock.
Spacious site with good communication with the site managers. Would definitely recommend.

Disliked We didn’t notice that there were separate recycling bins so all rubbish went in one bin. I appreciate this is probably a council issue rather than the sites.

Liked Friendly site, great location for walks, spotless facilities

Disliked The campsite is undergoing some upgrades at the moment so visitors should be mindful of that. The showers are quite tight and could use a few more hangers or clothes storage outside the shower otherwise everything gets wet.

Liked Warm and friendly welcome. Everything was clean and in working order. Very quiet and peaceful site. Showers were lovely and hot.

Disliked Small shower cubicle so no dry space for getting dressed
It is on a slope so longer vehicles will definitely need ramps. We got away with it in a VW T4 by parking in the right spot.

Liked We often dont revisit sites as we like to explore something new however, this site feels homely and we've been now a few times. You feel like you are far away from home but in reality less than half hour from house!
Showers are hot and always clean.
