Spacious and dog-friendly 12-acre site in the Derbyshire Dales
A 15-minute drive to Ashbourne; 40 minutes to Chatsworth Estate
Shop and fishing ponds on site

Grab your walking boots, your fishing kit and your dog and get set for some relaxing time in the Derbyshire Dales at Blackbrook Lodge Camping and Caravanning, between the villages of Turnditch and Brailsford. This 12-acre site is well placed for walks and other outdoor activities – the edge of the Peak District National Park is about 20 minutes’ drive away, you can pick up the traffic-free Tissington Trail about 15 minutes away and there’s a good collection of watersports to be had at Carsington Water, 10 minutes away. And the fishing? Well, that’s right there where you’re staying – this site has both a main fishing lake and two ponds filled with carp for lazy days by the water. Away from the ponds, the main camping field is set back from the road and has space for kids to run around freely. Other facilities on site include a small shop for essentials, a washing-up area, toilets and hot showers that are available 24 hours a day. There are several pubs and restaurants within 10 minutes’ drive to keep the tribe fed, or you’re welcome to bring along a barbecue. If you go for the latter option, there’s a farm shop about 10 minutes’ drive away for delicious local goodies, and it’s the same distance to a supermarket for any other essentials. Please note that chocks or levellers may be needed.

The park does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Breed-specific legislation (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).
Group bookings of 6 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).
No bachelor/bachelorette parties permitted via Pitchup.com.
At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.
Guests are advised to bring a good quality flashlight with them as parts of the park are unlit.
No naked flames are allowed inside the hired accommodation units.
Swimming in the lake is not allowed.

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Lovely area and tranquil. The site its self was beautiful around the fishing ponds amenities were clean and the staff were very welcoming. Limited phone signal and internet which I personally prefer… bliss

Disliked: Cold showers they do have signs saying turn the taps off because they are running out of hot water but obviously people aren’t I went for a shower it was bloody freezing. We went and got bottled water as it had a strong smell and taste of chlorine… I think the pipes may have been cleaned?

We apologise for the cold shower, but the plumber has been in and this shouldnt happen again, but when the hot taps are left on in the amenities, the boiler is empty so has to reheat the water again, which affects campers who are waiting for a shower

Disliked: No WiFi but wasn't fussed to be honest

Camping pod (twin)

Liked: Great campsite. The staff are amazingly friendly and nothing too much trouble. The shepherds hut was comfy and had everything you need for a comfy stay. The shower was warm and the facilities kept clean. The location was beautiful with a lake, buzzards flying around, ducks and goose! Would stay again and recommend for camping.

There are so many great spot to choose from in the Peak District National Park – perhaps you’d like to go for a family bike ride on the Tissington Trail from Ashbourne (15 minutes’ drive), hop across the stepping stones at Dovedale (25 minutes) or finish up a hike by sampling the traditional puddings in Bakewell (35 minutes)? A visit to the Chatsworth Estate (40 minutes) is a must – for the farm shop, adventure playground and farmyard as much as the house and gardens themselves – and the nearby Kedleston Hall National Trust estate (10 minutes) is another spot that’s worth a visit.
