Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Nice site - well protected by surrounding trees (listen out for the family of Tawney owls calling to each other over night!). Available facilities are fine and kept clean - though worth noting that they’re not accessible to anyone who can’t do stairs. Site managers are lovely and we would happily book again.

Disliked The facilities block in the middle of the site being unavailable - especially as I think they’re the only ones which don’t have steps.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us we welcome all feedback.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us and we hope to give you a warm welcome back again in the future.

There is an accessible toilet/showers for any customers who have issues using or accessing the main toilet facilities. The key is in the reception, thank you for raising this issue.

Thank you again for the feedback.

Lovely quiet site, slightly hilly but wasn’t an issue.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked A really lovely site, well maintained and ran by a friendly/ helpful couple.
A bit of a gem so close to home.

The evenings are surprisingly quiet too.

Disliked Our hard standing pitch was very slopped which for me is the major negative for this site. But at the same time this pitch was overlooking the park so a bit of Ying and Yang.

FHU cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Thought this site sounded good was ok for travelling around but was the worst site I've stayed on

Disliked Toilet block was not but not clean went for a walk round the field and it stunk of sewers and at the bottom of the field it looked like fly tippers had been dumping all the rubbish here

The Elson point is normally emptied every 4 weeks and during your visit it was week 3, we brought forward the schedule and it was emptied immediately. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Local attractions

To the Peak! The Peak District National Park is but a short drive from Riddings Wood Holiday Park, and has a bit of what you fancy for all ages and inclinations. If you're in the area to hike, there are more Peak District trails than you can shake a (walking) stick at, from the shorter treks of seven or so miles around the upper Dove Valley and Pilsbury Castle, to long-distance paths like the Limestone Way (46 miles), the Derwent Valley Heritage Way (55 miles) or the Peak District parts of the Pennine Way, running for 268 miles from the northern Peak District to just inside the Scottish border. Climbers and cavers also delve into all things Peak: thousands of routes for all abilities are all over the park for climbers, including Burcen Edge for beginners and more hair-raising ascents like Debauchery and Mad Dogs and Englishmen for the severely experienced. If you're of a cavernous disposition, make your way to the village of Castleton and its four show caves, Blue John, the Peak, Treak Cliff and Speedwell Cavern with underground boat trip. Matlock Bath has a cable car to take adventurers to limestone caverns The Heights of Abraham, and Poole's Cavern near Buxton has vast caves to explore before an above-surface walk around Buxton Country Park. Other attractions like Chatsworth House and Gardens and the old Crich Tramway are to hand for the historically-minded, alongside old Peak District villages and market towns for tearooms, restaurants, family pubs and lots of shopping: try Buxton, Ashbourne and Bakewell to start you off. Back at Matlock Bath, let the kids go large at the rides and attractions of theme and play park Gullivers Kingdom for ages two to 13; the 600-acre Matlock Farm Park nearby should keep them busy for a bit too.
