The bins are emptied twice weekly, we did have a missed collection 2 weeks ago when the waste truck broke down. The past 2 weeks we have found that although we have 6 bins in the the bin compound guests only use the first 3 to point they overflow and then they pile bags on the floor if they went a bit further to the 4-6th bin they would find them empty. the top of the park by the toilets there are 2 bins guest use the first bin to point of overflowing and pile bags on the floor when the second bin remains empty. We do try to rotate the bins and pick the bags of the floor and put them in the empty bins. Guests also fill the bins with air beds, camping chairs and the list goes on, this has an impact on how full the bins get when we clearly ask guests to take any unwanted or broken camping stuff home.

A aimé Everything.... we love this site think this is our 5th stay and we'll be back.Amazing stay, lovely warm welcome.... nothing is ever too much trouble...we booked electric hook up as last one available to book online but asked to go on the field (non electric) and no surprise "no problem go make yourself at home". Lovely clean facilities and a pop up pizza oven on site...thank you once again and see you soon :)

A aimé The arrival and check-in process was very easy, with helpful staff directing us to our pitch. The pitch itself was incredibly large, as were most of the pitches across the site, which made for a very spacious and comfortable stay.

The main shower block was large and generally good, although the closer toilet and shower facilities were closed and looked as though they had been out of use for some time. There was a small shop at reception, and food vans serving street food and pizzas were available on two of the three nights we stayed, which was a nice addition.

The play park was also good, although it was really only suitable for younger children. There was, however, plenty of open space for playing games and enjoying the outdoors.

The location was just outside the town, although we didn’t explore the immediate local area very much, as we spent most of our time visiting Matlock and exploring the surrounding Dales.

Overall, it was a good campsite with plenty of space and some useful facilities. However, we didn’t feel there was quite enough on-site or in the immediate area to make us want to return for another stay.

N'a pas aimé One of the biggest frustrations was that I hadn’t realised when booking that there were no on-site freezer facilities for refreezing ice blocks. For such a large campsite, with so many people camping in tents, I would have expected this to be available. There were no issues with the electrical supply, and a fridge could easily be powered if you brought your own, but having access to a freezer would be a really useful facility for campers.

The majority of the site is also on a slope. This wasn’t a major issue for us, but it’s something to be aware of when choosing a pitch, as some campers may prefer flatter ground.

It could also get a little noisy around the avenues, with some parents not paying much attention to the 10pm quiet-time rule. As someone with children myself, I appreciate that kids will be kids, and this isn’t really the campsite’s fault as similar things can happen anywhere. However, some families did seem to take the rules a little too casually.

The toilets were also often left in a poor state. I suspect this was largely due to the number of children using the facilities during the school holidays rather than a lack of cleaning, but it was still noticeable.

Finally, I found that if I showered after around 8am, the water was often only lukewarm. During a heatwave this wasn’t particularly unpleasant, but it’s something worth being aware of, especially if you’re expecting a hot shower after an early start or a day out.

Overall, these were relatively minor issues, but they are worth considering when deciding whether the site is right for you.

We are sorry to hear that you experienced noise at night, we are quite strict on quiet time and we do go out and about at night to enforce the quiet time.

The showers are powered by gas so we are not sure why they would be lukewarm in the mornings, we will get these checked to find the possible cause.

We were situated on the bottom field by the kids park which was perfect for us with children.
Strict rules of children to be off the park at 10pm which was perfect for us to get some shut eye.

N'a pas aimé Only 1 drinking water tap for the site.
Toilet and wash facilities clean though no paper towels and hand dryers turned off.
Lady on reception not very welcoming however the gentleman was more friendly.

There are 2 water taps on site and the pot wash water is safe to drink.

A aimé We really enjoyed our stay over the weekend. This site is really nice, the toilets/showers were very clean and the water in the showers was hot! It’s in a lovely area with some nice local pubs and walks to go on

We do try hard to allow more space between campers and do block 1 in 4 pitches unfortunately tents are getting bigger which takes the extra space created. We are constantly working with ideas to create more space.

N'a pas aimé Everything else about the site. Hard standing pitches poorly maintained and slipped so difficult to level van . Campers in bottom field thinking it was acceptable to walk thru your pitch . Not enough facilities for the number of pitches . 5 toilet cubicles , 4 showers and 4 hand wash basins . Siting of toilet showers poor as sited at entrance to site so quite a walk from most of pitches . Not a site I would recommend for couples looking for a quiet getaway for a weekend as was very busy with families.

A aimé Love place to stay as a park on site and lovely walks definitely child friendly so if your looking for some where quite this is not the place to go kids still playin at about 11 but im ok with that 😊 it's nice to see kids actually playing

A aimé Site was quiet on a night even though it was busy.

N'a pas aimé Rubbish on our pitch when we arrived including a dead bird and dog poo. Toilet block small, busy and not particularly clean.
