What customers say

Large, well-located site with spacious pitches. Close to National Water Sports Centre & Nottingham. Facilities adequate, but cleanliness & modern washrooms need improvement. Some noise noted, especially weekends. Basic shop. Many would return.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Enjoyed the stay here the toilets were cleaned and regularly stocked the workers nice ice cream van which came on in the evenings and the park was great for the children they have a shop on site also

Disliked It wasn't obvious that the activities on the pictures were not included with the campsite stay they all have additional costs apart from the park. The shop also was double or more in price for certain items.

Liked The pitch was lovely, it was very spacious & we loved how the children were able to play in the middle of the grass. The playground was great for the children. The shop assistants were so friendly & very cheerful which was lovely.

Disliked I didn’t like the toilets & showers. The toilets were absolutely disgusting. They never seemed clean & a lot of the women’s toilets were blocked. The showers were either very hot or went really hot whilst showering which is the obviously dangerous for small children. The showers didn’t last like & you kept having to press the button on.
By the sinks you could do with some hooks or shelves for you to hang up your towel or toiletries whilst washing your face or brushing your teeth as you had no where to hang anything & you had to balance your stuff on the other sinks.
The shop prices were quite expensive for some of the items especially the chocolate. The grass could have done with a cut as it was quite long in places.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Level campsite. Decent size pitch. Easy to get to from the motorway. Peaceful geese. Handy shop on site. Hot water for showers and washing up. Nice play area for children. Nearby to water sports and the beautiful Colwick country park. I felt safe. I didn't use the water sports facilities, but if you're into that and you book up in advance it's a great option for activities.

Disliked Not enough toilets/showers in field "group camping" . Unclear whether cubicle is engaged/vacant. If willing to walk to next field the toilets and showers are more plentiful and easier to access. Expensive pitch for one person with just a small tent - probably better value if you have a bigger tent and more people. Some litter around the site, had to clear my own pitch on arrival of few beer cans and empty packaging.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Sadly, the only thing we enjoyed was the water sports activities

Disliked The entire site was filthy; there was rubbish in all the bushes, all over site, bins weren't emptied and there were only a handful of them, the pitches weren't tended in between guests, the toilets and showers were disgusting, never any toilet paper or soap. On the second night of our stay, the noise from the bell tents behind went on until 2:30am, we had a man behind our tent hitting it, twice, he had been around other tents in the same area, there was no security to call or find anywhere on site, when I told someone the next day all they were bothered about was the noise from other campers. People were leaving early because they were so fed up with how dirty it was. The one day we went up to the park, you had to pay for parking, we ordered l from the Ten66, stood in line for 20 minutes and paid £8 for 2 teas and 2 bags of crisps! Would not return and would definitely not recommend. I camp a lot and have been to a lot of sites and can never even fault the basic sites, but this site clearly has a lot of customers in and out and they're getting a lot of money but not putting it back into the site

Local attractions

If you've any energy left over or you're hardily thinking that the watery and land-based activities of the Holme Pierrepont Country Park just aren't enough, get along to the cycle paths of Colwick Country Park on the outskirts of Nottingham, which have miles of waterside biking alongside the River Trent.
