  • Water- and land-based event centre in 270 acres of parkland
  • Easy access to Nottingham city centre, rail network and airport
  • Country walks, nature trails and lots to do for kids on site
What do you reckon is the main flavour of activities at this Nottinghamshire site? Yup, top of the menu at the Holme Pierrepont Country Park, near Nottingham, are all sorts of watersports: you'll be able to tackle a whitewater course for canoeing, kayaking, rafting and tubing; paddleboarding; and open-top canoeing. This is a land-based activity centre too, so if you don't fancy plunging into the foamy depths or would quite like to stay dry for a day, other options can be tackled at the outdoor adventure zone where there's an aerial adventure course, miniature golf, a kids' activity club and archery combat. A large play park, country walks and nature zones are also on site (please note some activities are subject to availability and must be booked at reception; early booking is advisable). Feeling a bit faint just from reading all this, and think you'd rather spectate? The centre has kindly included a country park café and a regatta lake where it hosts its own events like rowing and canoe regattas, dragonboat racing and triathlons. Lots are on offer too to keep the kids amused, including a woodland adventure playground and a nature trail, a short stroll away. Although all this energetic excellence is only 10 minutes' drive from Nottingham city centre, it's well into the countryside and away from anything townie, as it's deep in the 270 acres of parkland of Holme Pierrepont Country Park. The campsite part of the park covers 18 acres and has a facilities block with showers and toilets, and a site shop selling selected groceries and camping supplies.

What customers say

Great location near Nottingham & National Water Sports Centre, with spacious pitches. Family-friendly with lots of activities. Self-check-in is a plus. However, some guests noted recurring issues with toilet/shower cleanliness, noise, and a lack of staff. Potential here, but needs facility/management upgrades.

Powered grass campsite

Liked The site is spacious and well laid out. The EHU and water service points are excellent. Access to cycle paths is easy.

Disliked The shower/toilet blocks were poorly cleaned. In one block, small children were rampaging unsupervised and excrement had been smeared on the walls and floor. In the portacabin style blocks, the showers required continuous pressing of the button to stay on, making showering difficult and unpleasant.
Reception unmanned.

From the manager: Dear Guest
Thank you for your feedback.

We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed the spacious layout of the site, the electric and water service points, and the easy access to the local cycle paths.

We are, however, very sorry to hear about the condition of the shower and toilet facilities during your stay and the disruption caused by unsupervised children. This is certainly not the standard we aim to provide for our guests, and we understand how unpleasant this must have been. We also appreciate your comments regarding the shower facilities and reception availability.

We would like to reassure you that a recent unauthorised encampment on site has now been fully resolved following police involvement and formal legal action through the courts. The site is now clear and fully operational, and we are working with specialists on additional measures to prevent any recurrence.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future for a much-improved stay that better reflects the standards we strive to achieve.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked The staff were very helpful and friendly, the site was excellently located, and very convenient for the NWSC. The deluxe pod that I ended up staying in was perfect.

Disliked The weekend was ruined by the travellers based all over the campsite, with groups of children walking into pods, tents, and creating mayhem in the toilets, to include blocking sinks, leaving tissue and makeup stains everywhere (these kids were under 12), and trapping at least two women inside cubicles and not letting them out. Although I had booked a tent pitch, I ended up sharing a pod as there was a space (the pod was fab!) - thank goodness I did as my colleague, who had the tent pitch next to mine, had his tent completely destroyed by the gang of children.
I felt so sorry for the other families staying on the site who were shepherding their children around, and basically circling the wagons to create a safe space, particularly necessary as two of the traveller cars decided to race each other round the site on Saturday evening.

Thank you for your feedback.

We are pleased to hear that you found our staff helpful and friendly, enjoyed the location of the site, and that the deluxe pod provided a comfortable stay.

However, we are very sorry that your visit was impacted by the behaviour of an unauthorised encampment on site at the time. We fully appreciate how upsetting and disruptive this must have been, and we understand your concerns regarding the incidents you witnessed and experienced.

We would like to reassure you that the situation has now been fully resolved following police involvement and formal legal action through the courts. The site is now clear and fully operational. In addition, we are working with specialist contractors on further security and preventative measures to reduce the risk of anything similar occurring in the future.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience. We value your feedback and hope that we will have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future for a much more enjoyable stay and to demonstrate the standard of experience we normally strive to provide.

Liked Beautiful natural area well maintained fields

Disliked Huge lack of facilities, 1 toilet block for 3 fields and pods. Toilets were kept clean but in need of updating, no private area with sink, most sinks only had either hot or cold very few had both. Expensive when you have to walk 2-3 fields to toilets

Liked Self check in, plenty of space, convenient drinking water points/toilets/showers

Disliked Very noisy (Rafters) until 2 30am on Sat 13 Jun...I tried ringing the tel numbers provided but no-one answered. I was competing next day in British Masters rowing championships so really, really needed a decent sleep. Very disappointing that no-one picked up, or ensured thr post-9.30pm quiet rule thst was advertised.
Also, the nearest toilet block was locked on Sat morning...
Finally, i was literally the only occupant of Rafters on Sun June 15th, which fely very isolated, especially when nobody would answer the night time calls on the Sat night.

From the manager: Dear Guest
Thank you for your feedback.

We're pleased to hear that you found the self check-in process straightforward and appreciated the space on site, along with the convenient access to drinking water, toilets, and showers.

However, we are very sorry to hear that your stay was impacted by noise late into the night, particularly when you were preparing to compete in the British Masters Rowing Championships the following day. We completely understand how frustrating and disappointing this must have been. We also apologise that your calls were not answered and that the advertised quiet hours were not enforced as expected.

We are equally sorry to hear about the issues with the toilet block being locked and, most importantly, that you felt unsafe as a solo female traveller. We take feedback of this nature very seriously, and it is concerning to hear that you felt unsupported when trying to raise concerns during your stay.

A recent unauthorised encampment on site has now been fully resolved following police involvement and formal legal action through the courts. The site is now clear and fully operational, and we are working with specialists on additional measures to prevent any recurrence. We are also reviewing our procedures to ensure guests are able to access assistance when needed and that site rules are enforced more effectively.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience. We appreciate your honest feedback and hope we may have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future for a much improved stay.

Liked Me and my family like how spacious the pitches were and that there was a lot of walks and parks for children

There’s a lake where they have water sports that you can watch

From the manager: Dear Guest

Thank you for your feedback.

We're delighted to hear that you and your family enjoyed the spacious pitches, the nearby walks, parks, and the opportunity to watch the water sports activities on the lake. It's also wonderful to hear that you're planning to book with us again in the future.

We are, however, very sorry to hear about the issues you experienced during your stay. We completely understand how upsetting and inappropriate it must have been to be challenged while assisting your young disabled nephew to use the facilities. No guest should feel uncomfortable in that situation.

We also appreciate your comments regarding the behaviour of some children on site and the impact this had on the cleanliness of the facilities and communal areas.

We would like to reassure you that the recent unauthorised encampment has now been fully resolved following police involvement and formal legal action through the courts. The site is now clear and fully operational, and we are working with specialists on additional measures to help prevent any recurrence in the future.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience. We truly value your feedback and look forward to welcoming you and your family back for a much more enjoyable stay next time.

Liked Great location right next to the rowing lake. Spacious pitches and easy check in process.

Disliked Facilities were a bit date which was not too much of a problem but they were not cleaned as regularly as they could have been. Some other campers were quite noisy playing loud music until close to midnight.

Thank you for your feedback.

We’re pleased to hear that you enjoyed the great location next to the rowing lake, the spacious pitches, and found the check-in process easy and straightforward.

We’re sorry to hear that the standard and frequency of cleaning in the facilities did not fully meet your expectations, and that noise from other campers affected your stay. This is not the experience we aim to provide, and we appreciate you bringing it to our attention.

We would also like to acknowledge that during your stay there was a recent unauthorised encampment on site, which we understand may have contributed to disruption and a less peaceful environment than usual. We want to reassure you that this situation has now been fully resolved following police involvement and formal legal action through the courts. The site is now clear and fully operational, and we are working with specialists on additional measures to help prevent any recurrence in the future.

We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future for a more peaceful and enjoyable stay.
