  • Water- and land-based event centre in 270 acres of parkland
  • Easy access to Nottingham city centre, rail network and airport
  • Country walks, nature trails and lots to do for kids on site
What do you reckon is the main flavour of activities at this Nottinghamshire site? Yup, top of the menu at the Holme Pierrepont Country Park, near Nottingham, are all sorts of watersports: you'll be able to tackle a whitewater course for canoeing, kayaking, rafting and tubing; paddleboarding; and open-top canoeing. This is a land-based activity centre too, so if you don't fancy plunging into the foamy depths or would quite like to stay dry for a day, other options can be tackled at the outdoor adventure zone where there's an aerial adventure course, miniature golf, a kids' activity club and archery combat. A large play park, country walks and nature zones are also on site (please note some activities are subject to availability and must be booked at reception; early booking is advisable). Feeling a bit faint just from reading all this, and think you'd rather spectate? The centre has kindly included a country park café and a regatta lake where it hosts its own events like rowing and canoe regattas, dragonboat racing and triathlons. Lots are on offer too to keep the kids amused, including a woodland adventure playground and a nature trail, a short stroll away. Although all this energetic excellence is only 10 minutes' drive from Nottingham city centre, it's well into the countryside and away from anything townie, as it's deep in the 270 acres of parkland of Holme Pierrepont Country Park. The campsite part of the park covers 18 acres and has a facilities block with showers and toilets, and a site shop selling selected groceries and camping supplies.

What customers say

This campground has a great location, perfect for visiting Nottingham and the National Water Sports Centre. Guests love the spacious sites, friendly staff, and easy check-in. While generally clean and well-kept, some mention the washrooms are a bit dated or not always tidy. Still, its family-friendly vibe and nearby activities make it a top pick.

Liked lovely layout with plenty of space, all facilities as needed.

Disliked Impersonal with no one on site, shop closed in morning and the showers and toilets need a good clean. Might be different in the summer months.

Liked The pitch was private, neat, and tidy. The staff gave us a warm welcome and were very friendly.

Liked Spacious pitches, great walks from the site. Quiet, but that was probably to do with the time of year.

Disliked On arrival we went ito the shop, where the shelves were practically bare. The member of staff looked and acted like she had been forced at gun point to work that day. She was the only member of staff we saw the 3 days we were there, and we only saw her the first day. The shop/reception was closed the rest of the time. The toilets were in need of a good clean and a lot of repair. One old guy turned up one morning and threw a wet mop around the floor, but it appeared nothing else was cleaned or wiped. Considering I didn't see anyone else using the block it had obviously been like this for some time.

Liked Great location, opposite Holme Pierrepont Country Park and close to Nottingham.

Good hard standing pitch, excellent value for money.

Easy check-in, with informative email received prior to visit.

Disliked Condition of facilities block, not very clean and poorly maintained.

No drive over drain for grey waste disposal.

Deluxe Arch 1 bedroom camping pod

Liked Easiest check in ever.
Don't listen to the negative comments it's a campsite for goodness sake, not a 5 star hotel.
We stayed in a deluxe pod during mid February and it was cosy warm-nice and toasty when the heater was on.

Disliked That we didn't book for a longer stay.

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked The location, was very close in proximity to many activities.
The gentleman we spoke to on the phone (who said he was new) was very friendly and helpful.

Disliked There was another van parked on our pitch with no owner in sight so we had to park next to them and closer to the caravan next door than we’d have liked.
Also as a family staying there I was a little concerned when my husband returned from a toilet trip saying he’d seen 2 men walking out of the ladies toilet.
Needless to say I did not go to the toilet alone after that.
There are locks for the main doors into the male/female toilets but they are not currently working. Also a side note, having stayed in another site the previous night where the toilet block was lovely and warm, the facilities in this site were very cold. But then it is February.

Local attractions

If you've any energy left over or you're hardily thinking that the watery and land-based activities of the Holme Pierrepont Country Park just aren't enough, get along to the cycle paths of Colwick Country Park on the outskirts of Nottingham, which have miles of waterside biking alongside the River Trent. Wildlife watchers can wander around Skylarks Nature Reserve, owned by Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, highly recommended by the Holme Pierrepont Country Park team and 15 minutes' drive from the site.
