  • Water- and land-based event centre in 270 acres of parkland
  • Easy access to Nottingham city centre, rail network and airport
  • Country walks, nature trails and lots to do for kids on site
What do you reckon is the main flavour of activities at this Nottinghamshire site? Yup, top of the menu at the Holme Pierrepont Country Park, near Nottingham, are all sorts of watersports: you'll be able to tackle a whitewater course for canoeing, kayaking, rafting and tubing; paddleboarding; and open-top canoeing. This is a land-based activity centre too, so if you don't fancy plunging into the foamy depths or would quite like to stay dry for a day, other options can be tackled at the outdoor adventure zone where there's an aerial adventure course, miniature golf, a kids' activity club and archery combat. A large play park, country walks and nature zones are also on site (please note some activities are subject to availability and must be booked at reception; early booking is advisable). Feeling a bit faint just from reading all this, and think you'd rather spectate? The centre has kindly included a country park café and a regatta lake where it hosts its own events like rowing and canoe regattas, dragonboat racing and triathlons. Lots are on offer too to keep the kids amused, including a woodland adventure playground and a nature trail, a short stroll away. Although all this energetic excellence is only 10 minutes' drive from Nottingham city centre, it's well into the countryside and away from anything townie, as it's deep in the 270 acres of parkland of Holme Pierrepont Country Park. The campsite part of the park covers 18 acres and has a facilities block with showers and toilets, and a site shop selling selected groceries and camping supplies.

Great location near amenities, with spacious sites and mostly friendly staff. However, many reviews mention outdated, unclean washrooms with blocked drains and poor hot water. Some guests noted noise and insufficient supervision.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Convenient for Nottingham. Lots of trees. Toilets, showers and washing up sinks are well positioned and there's plenty of space to open and close doors, not block other campers etc.

Disliked Very noisy! Big circle of folding chairs next to our pitch containing 10-11 kids and 2-3 adults. The kids spent all afternoon and evening running and scootering around, screaming and shouting while the adults did nothing. I expect children playing on campsites, but that was oppressively loud. A large group like this should have their own field, not be mixed in with solos and couples. (Plenty of vacant space elsewhere on site.) After they went quiet, music and drunk yelling started up from the area called Private Paddocks. Thankfully quiet by midnight. No staff on site besides a cleaner the following morning.

Height barrier was down on arrival and we weren't sure about our air vent so we phoned the number provided. Rang for ages then got answer machine. Luckily someone was driving out, so we could enter while barrier still up.

Liked Good site location

Disliked facilities are worn and dated, toilets are not very clean and showers you have to press a button constantly, I understand that system but this one was so quick to turn off. We had two nights of bad sleep due to the bell tent site playing the loudest bass music and screaming on top of their voices all day and all night past half ten which were the rules which made our stay quiet unpleasant. I tried to contact someone to complain but it just went to voicemail.

Liked Lovely walks, good location. Friendly staff

Disliked During our stay, we were extremely disappointed with the standard of basic facilities. The toilets were repeatedly left unclean and were not topped up with toilet roll, have not 1 toilet roll in for 1 night of our stay, which is unacceptable. I’m addition to top that off we did not have any warm water at any point during our stay. This significantly impacted our comfort and ability to use the facilities properly. A complaint has already been logged, but I am requesting a full explanation of how these issues were allowed to occur, & what actions you are taking to resolve them, and what compensation you intend to offer given the poor experience for myself n my family.

If the facilities get sorted out I would stay here again as it’s a great location
