Lowther Holiday Park

Positiv The park as a whole was lovely, great shower blocks which were large and very clean and well maintained. There is a great walk up to Lowther Castle which was great to walk the dog in the morning. Pub was great, lovely pint and great atmosphere. Bakery and shop sold great products and all the staff were lovely friendly and professional.

Negativ Pitch was a bit muddy but the weather was a bit wet so not really the parks fault.

Negativ Washrooms need updating (most of the toilets didn’t flush properly) and having to pay an extra £10/day for WiFi. Codes on washroom doors are a pain.

Positiv This is a beautiful place, with so much potential. If I stayed in a caravan or one of the holiday homes I would probably be very happy and comfortable on the site. The playground, ball game area and big field for playing on are brilliant for the kids. The onsite bakery was brilliant. Well priced and everything we had from there was delicious.

Negativ I’m so sorry but for us the bad outweighed the good. I wanted to love it because it was beautiful. The pitches are far far too small and the camping area is cramped and not pleasant. It felt like being at a festival. The toilets and showers were awful and so far away from the pitches. If they had been clean and in good condition I might not of minded but they were filthy all the time, always out of soap at the sinks, toilet seats hanging off or wonky, santitary bins full to bursting, showers that literally last 5 seconds (I’d read that before and thought someone was exaggerating, they weren’t). The pot wash at the toilets was bad, no light so you can’t see what you are doing, filthy sinks, hot taps that trickle out and take forever to fill the bowl. The kids that are from the static caravans are awful, riding around the site doing wheelies on their bikes, swearing and shouting and intimidating younger kids. There doesn’t seem to be anyone supervising the site and there is hardly ever anyone around to talk about concerns with. The office which is supposed to be open until 5 was abandoned at 4.30. There’s open fires going on, music blaring, swearing and shouting way past the time when it’s supposed to be quiet. Oh and the dogs. I love dogs, I have one and she’s a barker so she doesn’t come camping with us, the camping field however is just full of barking, howling dogs. The barking starts at 6am. This is not a cheap site and possibly one of the worst we have stopped at. I have never left a bad review before but this place was not great.

Positiv Absolutely loved this place, it was so peaceful, tranquil and stunning. The staff were so informative especially Sylvia, every campsite needs a Sylvia. There was also a lovely young lady in bar, who's was always happy to help, and as for the campsite shop the veggie sausage roll was delicious.
Toilets and showers yes dated bit clean, even a bath if you wanted one.

Negativ I wouldn't say it's a dislike but, I think the campsite shop could be better stocked. And the WiFi was hit and miss

Positiv Great location, good facilities. Really useful to have a picnic bench right next to the pitch. Was quiet and peaceful, good nights sleep. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Negativ Toilet block was feeling a bit dated. Washing up sinks were dirty and one blocked with food.

Positiv The facilities were very good-I’ve never seen a bath at a holiday park!
My children were never out of the park, which we didn’t mind as it was right in front of our tent. Our dog enjoyed a paddle in the on site river. Good location with short commutes to key walking areas e.g Ullswater, Pately Bridge, Aira force waterfall etc.

Negativ *The games room was not really a games room due to lots of the machines being out of order or not working•
*The shop was very expensive and basic.
*Some older children continued to enter the park and were horrible to younger children (although this point is a parenting issue not a park issue)
*This park has focused on adults with not enough to engage young children e.g amusements, entertainment, activities etc.
*volume of traffic whilst commuting to other areas in the locality.

Positiv Lovely camp site. Staff very welcoming and helpful. On site shop and pub and restraint.

Pitched are a good size (tent ) walking round even the caravan pitches were a good size.

Beautiful walk down the path along the river were you can enter and a fab place to take the dogs if you take them.

Negativ I am no means put of by the dislikes but did make a slight difference in the ease if camping.

No toilets or showers any were near the camping. Almost felt like the small area fir tents was for picket money. Very much a holiday home caravan site. Tent area has a slope on it so hard to find a flat spot for bedroom area in tent and a long walk to the nearest toilet block.

Jad to keep hand on button for shower and not very hot.

Positiv We absolutely loved our visit to Lowther Holiday Park! So much for the kids to do and beautiful place!!

Negativ Showers are absolutely grim. Huge lumps of hair on the floor and up the walls and toilet seats hanging on for dear life. We did not let it ruin our stay as the positives massively outweighed this issue.
