  • Public and private wild swimming holes; firepits and picnic tables
Introducing… a wildlife haven with caves, bluffs, a river and swimming holes. Surrounded by an Arkansas Heritage Natural Area and in the headwaters of the Kings River in Venus Arkansas, Kings River Falls Campground is wild, scenic and very well situated for adventurous getaways. It’s just 10 minutes’ walk from the Kings River Falls Trailhead. The seven-acre site has the same sandstone structure responsible for the popular formation at Hawksbill Crag/Whitaker Point (35 minutes’ drive). Tools similar to Clovis Points used in prehistoric times have been found at Kings River Falls Campground too, which might suggest that the bluffs and crags have been around (and inhabited) for millennia. Relax and kick back at the picnic tables and firepits provided on every pitch. Putting your feet up might be the first thing on your mind after exploring the miles of trails and cooling waters around the site.… Or you may want to keep exploring on the premises. There’s a public swimming area shared with the Arkansas Natural Area (expect local traffic around here during your stay). Otherwise, there’s another private swimming area on the property, a short hike away (just ask for directions from the host). Since mobile phone signals are spotty and virtually non-existent, this is a good place for a digital detox. Bring your waterproof hiking shoes or water shoes, as you may need to wade through a low-water creek. Down miles of county-maintained dirt roads, your car will get dusty on your approach to Kings River Falls Campground, and you’ll need to drive across the low-water creek (or park and walk across). The site also recommends tick defence for yourself and pets, as this is a truly wild stay.
