Picture a splendidly green, Swedish, scene in a countryside setting in south Dalarna... surrounded by forest and on the shores on a lake. Now (gleefully) picture your adventuring self heading out on a moose safari from here... or a spot of dog sledding... or somewhat more pedestrian pursuits like fishing and biking... all with the able assistance of the hosts of Tyngsjö Vildmark near the Vansbro village of Äppelbo.
You'll likely drop off like the proverbial log with a stay here, as said hosts make it a cinch for you to knacker yourself out by day and catch your full quota of zzzz's by night. They hire out mountain bikes so you can whizz through/ puff around the surrounding forest, and can point out the best local routes if you're a hiker not biker, such as the one to Tyngsjö's church, high on a promontory overlooking the lake. Neither a hiker nor a biker be? Bag a kayak, canoe or fishing boat instead to launch from the site straight onto Tyngsjö lake.
It's a must to spend plentiful time lazing about around the grounds too (after all, you'll need to wind down for your forthcoming night's sleep), so carve out many hours idling and soaking up the lake views on the covered sheltered deck while plotting your destinations for the next day. A barbecue area is on this part of the site as well, and – gleeful imagining time again – a private sauna available to hire for a small fee.
Tyngsjö Vildmark also has a TV and games room, and a snack bar where simple meals are served every day. Barbecues and campfires are allowed on site.
Amenities include basic but well-maintained toilets and free hot showers, as well as a washing-up area and a laundry room with coin-operated washing machine and tumble dryer.

The site is in the south Dalarna municipality of Vansbro, a popular setting for hiking and fishing. At local town Äppelbo, the 300-kilometre Västerdal river meets over 400 ponds, lakes and streams of the region, many teeming with rainbow trout, pike and grayling.
Vassgalen's the place for pike and perch, and Busjön for both these as well as whitefish and trout: pick up a tourist card fishing licence on a daily, weekly or annual validity to trot along and try your luck.
Dalarna's capital Falun is a couple of hours' drive away.
