Swimming pool and sun loungers

General

  • Small and peaceful site in the Asturias village of Cadavedo
  • A 20-minute stroll from Cadavedo beach
  • Pool, lounge and bar-restaurant with terrace and garden

Mmm, cheese. And mmmm, cider. And mmmm, beaches. And a combo of these three things Asturias is famed for – well, sí gracias.

Put yourself within easy reach of scoffing, seaside and sightseeing with a stay at Camping La Regalina in the village of Cadavedo, an hour’s drive from Oviedo and a leisurely stroll from some spectacular sands. Day tripping within half an hour or so might take you along the coast to little fishing villages, up into the hills to hike through a gorge, or to a museum dedicated to the giant squid (bet you’ve never been to one of those before…).

Days can also be well spent on site too, where there’s an outdoor pool for splashing about in and/or reclining alongside, and a playground and various organised antics to keep the nippers amused. A communal lounge provides a comfy place to hang out when you need a little indoor time, with a box of toys for the small sorts.

Eats and drinks can easily be sorted in or out: if you’re feeling a little lazy, La Regalina has its own bar-restaurant with a shaded terrace and garden; should you fancy stretching your legs, the restaurants, bakeries and grocery shops of Cadavedo are a 10-minute trot away.

Eco-friendly motorists may well be chuffed to note the presence of electric car charging facilities on site.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 10/06 and 17/09 (subject to weather conditions).

The site is small and sheltered. It's a mixture of cabins and touring pitches.
The cafe and shop are very good, because they server the village and passing pilgrims as well as campers.
The shower blocks are old(ish) but very well maintained.
The kids liked the upstairs games room.
The nature of the site and the popularity of the cafe mean the adults are in the bar till late - a really good buzz. The kids play late too, but it is Spain, so you expect late nights.
It's a 15 minute but very pretty walk to the beach, and a walk round the village is a must.

    Disliked:

    Nothing - it was perfect.

Noise late at night, too many permanent pitches. No taps around site, pitches not clearly defined.

nice site, peaceful, narrow access 16/08/2018

Friendly reception staff, particularly the young lady who welcomed us. The restaurant waitress was also friendly and attentive (and spoke good English). The food was very good, although our tapas had only one dish (she had explained there were no fish dishes) but it would have been good to have been offered an alternative. The wifi signal in the communal salon was very good. The pitches were flat and there was a nice interspersal of tents, motorhomes and caravans. Should also mention a reasonably well stocked shop, run by a very friendly lady who also spoke some English.

    Disliked:

The access roads are very narrow and anyone with a large outfit should be wary. The turn into the site is tight and requires care. The toilet/shower facilities are adequate and clean but could really do with upgrading. On a purely personal note, the close proximity to other campers, particularly those who had permanent pitches, could be distracting. Us Brits have to accept that Spanish families, including children, eat and drink late, and the resultant loud chatter can be wearing when one can't sleep until well after midnight!

Nice small grassy site with a lovely view across the valley. Lovely warm showers. WiFi lounge for the children.

    Disliked:

The toilet/shower block could do with upgrading (some doors don’t lock, only curtains for the showers, no soap in toilets etc).

Loved the welcome at reception. The location and walk to the beach is spectacular. The site is small and beautiful with stunning views of the mountainside. The facilities, including the restaurant were excellent.

    Disliked:

We were disturbed by groups of very noisy children late both evenings (after midnight). No sign of parents!

Pleasant small campsite not far from the beach with good, but dated, amenities. Nice pool, clean toilet block, small shop, bar and wifi. Supermarkets a short drive away.

Staff pleasant and helpful. Lovely little church with views over the bays just a short walk away.

We stayed just a few nights which worked well for us. 'TheBaileys'

Location was great with a superb walk down to a beautiful beach. Staff were very helpful. Small supermarket and bar adjacent to the site were appreciated.

    Disliked:

The toilet and shower facilities were a little tired and could have down with an in-depth clean. Access to the pitch was through a narrow opening, bushes and trees scraped all the side of our motorhome as we drove through it.

Local attractions

Earn yourself a few chunks of local cheese by heading out for a walk nearby – the 20-minute stroll to Cadavedo beach is probably a given, but also consider a similar length of wandering to get to Ermita de La Regalina, a 1930s shrine and viewpoints with some of the area’s best coastal vistas.

A little further along the coast are the fishing villages of Cudillero and Luarca, both around a 20-minute drive away. Luarca, in the west, is a bit of a foodie hotspot with some fab restaurants and a great Wednesday market; to the east, Cudillero is home to the Palace, a neoclassical place with an art collection including works by Goya and El Greco.

Also worth a visit nearby are the Las Hoces del Esva gorge and river walking trail, and the ancient Castro de Coaña, a fortress and village thought to date back to the fourth century BC. And of course those giant squid… you can learn all about them at Luarca’s Parque de la Vida y Museo del Calamar Gigante, a nature and science park with special exhibition on the marine beasties.
