Yep... you'll reckon you could paz some time here all right. The views at Camping La Paz, near Llanes in Asturias, are all pretty smashing ones of the Spanish coast and the clear blue sea – and as pitches are spread across several terraces and levels, there's plenty of them to go round (no fighting for the coveted field-edge spot here). And a location right by the beach is pretty smashing too – a good chunk of that gorgeous outlook is of Vidiago beach, a mere couple of minutes' stroll from this peaceful coastal site. Trot down the short footpath to hit the beach for swims, sand loafing and rockpooling, or stick around on site to admire from above. The beach-view bar-restaurant is the place for that: soak up the Spanish sun from the bar terrace while sampling bites from the local, tapas and international menus. Planning a picnic, a barbecue or an evening round the campfire? Pick up all the necessaries from the site's supermarket, stocked with groceries, newspapers and kit for beach and camping. If you're to hole up here for a while (as is surely tempting…) you'll perhaps need a bit of clean kit; take care of that at the laundry room, which is fitted out with washing machines, tumble dryers and ironing boards. Other amenities include a motorhome service point and four toilet and shower blocks – because not having to stand in a loo queue is also pretty smashing…

  • Please note that the pup tent is for storage use only. Pitches are located at the top of the cliff, overlooking the sea, or in a flat, wooded field near the river Novales. Please let the campsite know your preference by using the 'special requests' box on the booking form.

Liked Beautiful location with terraced sites
We arrived late and were round back of hill in shady valley. Lovely shady valley with showers in rock overhangs.

Disliked Disappointed not be in the terraces facing the sea

Liked Great location, peaceful. Nice walks and good access to beaches. One dog friendly beach.

Disliked Showers in our bit of the campsite were very basic. Restaurant was meat and chips, no salads…

Liked La ubicación es fantástica. Un lugar precioso, tanto las parcelas de mar como las de al lado del rio. La atención de los trabajadores es exquisita, aunque son muy jóvenes y eso se agradece. El restaurante tiene cosas básicas pero muy buenas, y un lugar privilegiado.

Liked The views and access to the coast and sea were fantastic. Pitches were a good size and flat.
Good walks in surrounding area.
Drinking water and electric hook up were adequate
Wifi zone available in cafe

Some of the toilets although clean were a poor quality Supermarket was small and expensive and not stocked enough for a site that size.
Advised that a supermarket at Llanes was 30 minutes away but in fact was only 10 minutes by car. No swimming pool or facilities available outside of beach use

Liked Great location looking out onto beautiful bay, amenities clean, reasonable size pitches. staff helpful

Disliked Entrance to site a lot of graffiti which doesn’t create a good first impression,and be prepared to take your camping gear from your car up hill to the pitches also no WiFi

Local attractions

The east of Asturias is known for its tiny old-fashioned villages, its cliffs and its beaches, so get in the car or hire a scooter and get to its small caves, coves and sandy beaches. Nudist beaches are also available nearby for those who don't like returning home with tell-tale tan lines. Stacks of other top Spanish attractions and activities are within easy driving distance here too. Give your hiking boots or mountain bike a good workout on the hilly trails of the Picos de Europa National Park (an hour away), or take a more gentle wander around the very viewsome town of San Vicente de la Barquera (15 minutes' drive). Sticking to the scenic coastline, it's worth meandering through the medieval centre of Llanes (15 minutes) before flopping on one of its sandy beaches, or taking in the prehistoric daubings at Ribadesella's Rock Art Center of Tito Bustillo (half an hour) before… sí, more beach flopping. Foodies (and wine-ies) will also find this area fabulous: there's loads to taste, but suggestions to start off with include the local stews, rice puddings, saffron and cheese, all washed down with a flagon of the region's famed cider.
