Yep... you'll reckon you could paz some time here all right. The views at Camping La Paz, near Llanes in Asturias, are all pretty smashing ones of the Spanish coast and the clear blue sea – and as pitches are spread across several terraces and levels, there's plenty of them to go round (no fighting for the coveted field-edge spot here). And a location right by the beach is pretty smashing too – a good chunk of that gorgeous outlook is of Vidiago beach, a mere couple of minutes' stroll from this peaceful coastal site. Trot down the short footpath to hit the beach for swims, sand loafing and rockpooling, or stick around on site to admire from above. The beach-view bar-restaurant is the place for that: soak up the Spanish sun from the bar terrace while sampling bites from the local, tapas and international menus. Planning a picnic, a barbecue or an evening round the campfire? Pick up all the necessaries from the site's supermarket, stocked with groceries, newspapers and kit for beach and camping. If you're to hole up here for a while (as is surely tempting…) you'll perhaps need a bit of clean kit; take care of that at the laundry room, which is fitted out with washing machines, tumble dryers and ironing boards. Other amenities include a motorhome service point and four toilet and shower blocks – because not having to stand in a loo queue is also pretty smashing…

Disliked En general, la experiencia fue buena, aunque hubo algunos aspectos que creemos que podrían mejorarse. Echamos en falta bancos o alguna zona donde poder cambiarse cómodamente en los baños. El aparcamiento resultaba algo caótico y había pocas parcelas con espacio suficiente para introducir el coche cuando no se viajaba en caravana. Tampoco pudimos utilizar la toma de corriente por la distancia al punto de conexión y la falta de alargadores. Además, habría sido de agradecer una mayor presencia de árboles, tanto para disponer de más zonas de sombra como para facilitar la sujeción de cuerdas y toldos.

Liked Estuvo bien, la recepción fue rápida, las vistas geniales, volveremos

Disliked Aunque todo estuvo bien, la parcela que pedimos era con punto de luz, y no tienes luz en la propia parcela, deberían de avisar de que el punto de luz está a más de 15 metros con lo que tuvimos que ir aposta a por un alargador que nos costó casi más que la estancia en el camping, ya que ellos tampoco te proporcionan una solución.

Disliked Temps d’attente côté restaurant (mais du à un manque de personnel: une seule personne en cuisine). Nous pouvons donc comprendre.
Avec 4 personnes en salle, nous aurions pu espérer une réorganisation du service pour donner un coup de main en cuisine. Mais nous ne leur en voudrons pas.

Local attractions

The east of Asturias is known for its tiny old-fashioned villages, its cliffs and its beaches, so get in the car or hire a scooter and get to its small caves, coves and sandy beaches. Nudist beaches are also available nearby for those who don't like returning home with tell-tale tan lines. Stacks of other top Spanish attractions and activities are within easy driving distance here too. Give your hiking boots or mountain bike a good workout on the hilly trails of the Picos de Europa National Park (an hour away), or take a more gentle wander around the very viewsome town of San Vicente de la Barquera (15 minutes' drive). Sticking to the scenic coastline, it's worth meandering through the medieval centre of Llanes (15 minutes) before flopping on one of its sandy beaches, or taking in the prehistoric daubings at Ribadesella's Rock Art Center of Tito Bustillo (half an hour) before… sí, more beach flopping. Foodies (and wine-ies) will also find this area fabulous: there's loads to taste, but suggestions to start off with include the local stews, rice puddings, saffron and cheese, all washed down with a flagon of the region's famed cider.
