Pitches

  • Spacious and shaded pitches at a friendly family-run Navarra site
  • Moncayo Natural Park and Bardenas Reales desert half an hour's drive
  • Bar on site and foodie town Tudela 10 minutes' drive away
As you may have guessed from the name, nature is the big feature here – Camping Nature is set in a pine forest of trees that are more than 25 years old, meaning they’re mature enough to provide plenty of shade for each of the spacious pitches as well as creating a peaceful natural atmosphere and a lovely piney scent. And there’s more on the natural setting front, as this Navarra site overlooks a lake and is between the mountainous Moncayo Natural Park and the Bardenas Reales, a nature reserve that’s known as one of the largest desert areas in Europe. All in all, a pretty great location for hikers and scenery spotters… It’s also a great location for gourmet travellers, as – despite that remote-sounding location – this site is about 10 minutes’ drive from the centre of Tudela, a town nicknamed the ‘Vegetable Capital of Spain’ for its excellent fresh produce. There are lots of top-quality restaurants and shops in town where you can sample some of this, and also a supermarket about a kilometre from the site for any extra bits you may need. If one of the things you need is a cool beer, that’s taken care of, as this site has a bar with a small outdoor terrace where you can sip your drink while taking in the natural surroundings and perhaps chatting with the friendly owners to get some tips on what to do nearby. Other facilities include a chemical disposal point and a bathroom block with toilets and showers.

What customers say

A pleasant campsite with a lovely location amongst pine trees, offering a warm welcome and good facilities, including very clean showers and toilets. Pitches are well-sized with a 16a supply. While most guests found nothing to dislike, a few noted road and service station noise. The site is well-organised and conveniently located for supermarkets.

Liked Toilet block - internal.

Disliked Started raining soon after arrival and the site became a mud bath. When packing up to leave my feet were covered in thick red clay mud which was impossible to remove and transferred to the inside of our new motorhome.
Even worse was when trying to find the chemical toilet disposal point which is not marked. An older gent with a white beard, who I believe was the owner, watched me walk round the toilet block twice with a heavy cassette in the rain. He clearly knew where the disposal point was but did not assist me. When I realised it was the bare unmarked plastic pipe sticking up out of the concrete I could empty our cassette. He continued to watch for a couple of minutes, lit a cigarette, then wandered off towards reception. Disgraceful.

Local attractions

One of the real plus points of this site is that, despite its peaceful atmosphere, it’s in a very handy location just off the AP68 motorway and the A68 highway – and that means easy access to several local nature areas and other attractions. Head south to Moncayo Natural Park to climb the mountain itself or take wildlife-spotting walks through the lush forests; turn north instead and you’ll be amid the striking desert canyons and cliffs of the Bardenas Reales. Both are around half an hour’s drive away – although they could hardly be more different. The local town, Tudela (10 minutes’ drive) is a foodie hotspot, and you can work up an appetite by wandering around to see the cathedral, the Palacio del Marqués de Huarte and Muñoz Sola Modern Art Museum. A walk along the banks of the Ebro river may also be on the cards. If you’ve got the kids with you, a day at Sendaviva (half an hour) is likely to be on the schedule – there are exotic animals to see here, plus various activities, rides and shows for all ages.
