What a gorge Galician location: Camping Playa Paisaxe is right by the sandy Vilanova de Arousa beach of O Terrón, in the spectacularly scenic islets of the Rías Baixas – if you're a photography nerd, prepare to snap many a shot here. Playa Paisaxe's aim is for guests to have old style camping and caravanning stays but still be among clean and modern facilities: on site is an outdoor pool (with shallow area, so ideal for tiddlers); many poolside sun loungers free for guests' use; a sports court; a playground, and regular watery activities like aqua zumba and aqua aerobics organised in the summer season. If you haven't yet sampled Galician cuisine, the site restaurant is the place to do it, where you can take your foodie pick of set menus, a la carte or takeaway options alongside less local cuisine like pizza; have all indoors in the spacious seating area or outside on the roomy terrace overlooking the pool. If you'd rather get your own meals, the on-site supermarket will sort you for supplies, and the barbecue area for firing them all up. The site's other up to date facilities include amenities blocks with disabled access and a family-friendly room; a large washing-up area and a laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer.

Local attractions

Camping Playa Paisaxe's locale is a right top spot for getting to the best of the Rías Baixas coast and its inlets: the Ría de Muros y Noia, the Ría de Arousa, the Ría de Pontevedra, and the Ría de Vigo. Or you could stick to pottering around the small bays and islands of the region, spend days sunbathing on O Terrón and other beaches, or dive into what many a visitor to these parts does and have some days snorkelling, diving, sailing or kayaking. More coast, watersports and spectacular scenery are at the nearby Atlantic Islands of Galicia National Park, made up of the archipelagos – and cracking beaches – of Cortegada, Sálvora, Ons and Cíes. Feeling cultural/historical? Get along to O Cuadrante, the birthplace of Galician writer Valle Inclán and a short drive from the campsite, and the Campanario de Cálago, the seventh century bell tower that once belonged to one of the region's monasteries. Camping Playa Paisaxe is all in the O Salnés comarca, an area known for its wine production as well as its festivals including the Fiesta del Albariño and the Fiesta del Agua in Vilagarcía.
