  • Glamping tents at a scenic Galicia site with ocean and mountain views
  • A five-minute drive from A Guarda; good access to walking trails
  • Swimming pool, restaurant, bike hire and summer activities on site
Favourite views: mountain, river, ocean? It’s a tricky question, and not one you’ll have to answer when you stay at Kampaoh Rio Miño, in a rather special location on the riverbank overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and surrounded by mountains. This Galicia location is an excellent one for getting out to explore the natural beauty of this region, taking hiking routes up into the mountains or heading to the coast for seaside walks and days on the beach. The town of A Guarda is a couple of kilometres away too, so you’ll have easy access to shops and places to eat – how very handy. In fact you won’t even have to travel that far if you don’t want to, as there’s a mini market on site for snacks and various basic necessities, along with a bar/restaurant serving up local specialities including fresh Atlantic seafood (although you’re also welcome just to chill out over a couple of drinks if you prefer). It shouldn’t be difficult to work up an appetite or thirst when you’re staying here – the site has plenty of leisure facilities including a large swimming pool, a playground and sports courts for football and paddle tennis. In high season you’ll also be able to join in with various organised activities such as yoga sessions and fitness classes; kids’ activities and nightly shows also run throughout the summer. Ready just to flop out instead? No problem – your tent is ready and waiting, with all furnishings and bed linen provided to make life easy. Shared amenities include a launderette and bathroom block with toilets and showers.

Local attractions

If you’ve been inspired by those views you’ve seen from the site, you can follow various hiking trails nearby or hire bikes (either traditional bikes or e-bikes) on site to explore on two wheels. You won’t have to go far to find places of interest, as you can take a trail around the nearby peninsula to find seaside viewpoints or climb to the ancient stone houses at the archaeological site of Santa Trega (five kilometres away). Elsewhere along the coast, you may like to visit the Royal Monastery of Santa María de Oia (20 minutes’ drive) – or perhaps you’d rather just head straight to the beach, in which case Playa de A Lamiña (10 minutes) should be your first choice. The coast around here is lovely – but inland is equally attractive, so a day out at the Monte Aloia Natural Park (35 minutes) may be on the cards. There are several vineyards and wineries hiding away in the hills too, with the nearest about 10 minutes’ drive away.
