  • On the edge of Rianxo, 40 minutes' drive from Santiago de Compostela
  • Restaurant on site with sea-view terrace
What a gorgeous Galicia location – Kampaoh Rianxo is on the edge of the town of Rianxo, overlooking a sheltered bay where the mountains of the Sierra del Barbanza meet the banks of the Ría de Arousa. Riverside strolls, beach days, watersports, hilly hikes… all sorts of outdoor activities await for guests here. One activity that won’t be on the schedule is putting up a tent, because this glamping site has furnished tents set up ready and waiting for guests, with bed linen provided to help you keep your packing list nice and short. Shared facilities include a barbecue area, launderette and bathroom block as well as a café/restaurant with a sea-view terrace. You don’t have to be content with simply looking at the sea from afar, however – from this site you’ll be able to get straight out onto the sands of the sheltered cove at Praia de Tronco or stroll a little further along to reach several other beaches. Rianxo town centre is within walking distance too – the shops, restaurants and other attractions are all within about a 20-minute walk.

Local attractions

Beach time is a definite here – and there’s plenty of choice too. As well as the cove just by the site, you can also easily get to the longer sands of Praia de Tanxil (20 minutes’ walk) or the sheltered coves of Praia do Porrón (10 minutes) and Praia do Lodeiro (half an hour). For this last, you can take a short detour to see some ancient petroglyphs along the way. A little further out along the peninsula, there are more seaside walks and places to seek out including the natural pools of the Río Pedras and the Dolmen de Axeitos (both half an hour’s drive). Around the other side of the estuary, Vilanova de Arousa (40 minutes) has various watersports and boat trips, and you can drive over to the island of Arousa. There are several wineries along the route to the town, so you may like to stop by for a sample. Fancy a city stroll? Santiago de Compostela (40 minutes) makes a great day out, with a UNESCO-listed Old Town, a famed cathedral, an excellent contemporary art museum and lots of tasty treats at the central market.
