  • In the forest and mountain land of jamón ibérico
  • A few minutes away from Navaconcejo
  • Pool, sports court, bar-restaurant and playground

Off to Extremadura? Come to the Cáceres province and hog a stay at Camping Bungalows Río Jerte, one of the Spanish homes of famed cured ham jamón ibérico. This is an area of lush land filled with green forests and towering mountains – there be reasons why the wild Black Iberian pigs contentedly snuffle around these parts...

Camping Bungalows Río Jerte is a few minutes away from Navaconcejo, a town of the Jerte Valley on the riverbanks of Rio Jerte – we very much recommend river dips here in the height of Spanish summer. The Sierra de Gredos Regional Park and the Monfragüe Natural Park are both nearby so active sorts won't be boar-ed.

Bungalows Rio Jerte has an outdoor pool, a sports court (to work off large quantities of jamón ibérico and other local cuisine), a pétanque area, a ping pong table and a playground. The bar-restaurant is a busy meeting point for guests, who flock here to sample the tapas, local dishes and cold beer – again, you might want to investigate the sports court at some point during your stay...

Amenities include a loo and shower block suitable for to disabled guests, a chemical disposal point and a laundry room with washing machines and tumble dryers.

Local attractions

Get prepped for outdoor action: Camping Bungalows Río Jerte teams up with local companies specialising in outdoor activities; among the many opps on offer to book are canyoning, canoeing, caving and rock climbing.

You could also go hiking and cycling in the Monfragüe Natural Park and along the many other local routes such as Garganta Nogales, Pilones, Garganta de los Infiernos and Los Papuos, or rock climb among the Sierra de Gredos mountain range – or even attempt a climb up mighty Almanzor...?

This is prime birdwatching territory too: Monfrague is a Special Protection Area for birdlife and has many species to see including fifteen flavours of raptor; look out for Eurasian black vultures, griffon vultures, Spanish imperial eagles, golden eagles and Bonelli's eagles.
