  • Family-friendly site on the Costa del Azahar
  • A 15-minute walk from Gandia beach for watersports and boat trips
  • Restaurants and shops within walking distance; barbecues welcome
You won’t want to forget your swimming costume, sunglasses and oversized hat when you’re packing for your stay at Camping La Naranja, a family-friendly site a minute’s drive from the town of Gandia on the Costa del Azahar in Valencia. La Naranja is a top spot for beach adventures – it’s a 15-minute walk from the sands of Playa de Gandia, where you can stretch out in the sun, jump in the water, stroll along the seafront or explore on horseback. Too sedate? Try jetskiing, kayaking, windsurfing and flyboarding, or head out for a boat party. If you don’t fancy finding sand in surprising places for your entire getaway, you could explore the town instead: start with a visit to the Ducal Palace (15 minutes' drive away), then follow the route of the Borgias. Back on site, unwind away from the crowds with a dip in the on-site swimming pool (open in high season only). If you're here in high season you'll also be able to bag a post-swim bite at the café-restaurant or a drink at the bar (both open high-season weekends only). For self-cooked meals you're welcome to bring a barbecue to La Naranja, and there are several supermarkets within 10 minutes' walk for all the bits you'll need. Fancy being fancy and treating yourself? There are also plenty of restaurants within easy walking distance…

Local attractions

The Borgias may have brought Gandia to worldwide attention, but there’s more to the seaside town than one famed family: within 10 minutes’ drive of Camping La Naranja, you can mosey around the archaeological museum or the Museu Faller de Gandia (home to displays and exhibitions about the Valencian festival of Fallas). For a few moments of peace, make your way to Monasterio de Sant Jeroni de Cotalba to wander along the colonnaded walkways and spy out the stunning architecture with Moorish, Gothic, baroque and neoclassical influences. There’s lots to see here, including an orange tree patio, olive oil mill and wine press, as well as spectacular gardens. Kids who aren’t too enthused about museums and monasteries might be better entertained with a trip to Gandilandia, an amusement park less than five minutes from La Naranja, or by trekking to Benidorm, around an hour away, where they can splash around in Aqualandia waterpark, get a thrill at Terra Mitica theme park or meet the animals at the MundoMar animal park. An hour in the other direction is the city of Valencia, where there’s a good mix of activities for the whole family: you can all explore the historic indoor market, get your knowledge on at the science and culture park, or make your way to the Oceanografico aquarium.
