It may have 'siesta' in its name, but Catalonia's La Siesta Salou Resort and Camping has enough active options to keep you going from dawn to dusk – and then you can head off site for the bars and nightlife around 12 kilometres of Costa Dorada beaches… First up (ready?) are the three site pools: the activity pool near the site café-bar has a small island, two small slides and a waterfall, and is used for activities like aquagym and zorbing; below that is a pool with a more relaxed vibe, a Jacuzzi, another waterfall and a surrounding solarium for sunbathing and – yes – a little siesta. The third pool is for kids and has shallow waters for small splashers. A waterpark with three pools not enough for you? Tackle the site sports area with football pitch, pétanque court, padel court, billiards and table tennis. More? The site also has a kids' club and a playground. Also leisurely, you'll find a supermarket, a snack bar and restaurant with terrace; while for amenities, La Siesta Salou Resort and Camping has well-kept toilet and shower blocks with baby bath, disabled access and laundry and drying facilities.

La Siesta Salou Resort and Camping is in the Catalan province of Tarragona, in a locale with a variety of settings from mountains to coast and with heaps of related activities such as hiking, climbing, swimming and sailing nearby. (Or just sink onto the sand under a beach umbrella, also a totes valid option in these parts.) The site is near 12 kilometres of beaches for sandy days and the city of Salou for family-friendly urban outings: more kilometres of beaches as well as boat trips and sailing lessons are available here too. And if you're around with the kids, you'll probably already know that this is a cracking area for Spanish theme parks... Spain's biggest, PortAventura and the Caribe Aquatic Park are easily reached from here.
