- Spacious bell tents five minutes’ drive from Platja d’Aro in Catalonia
- Pp’s Park Platja d’Aro five minutes’ drive and Girona 45 minutes
- Restaurant and bar on site; beach and marina five minutes’ walk
Fancy chilling on the Catalonia coastline? Here’s your chance. Simply book in at El Glamp Vall d’Or, and you’ll be on your way to a seaside hideaway five minutes’ drive from lively Platja d’Aro. Here accommodation is in roomy bell tents, tucked under the trees for shade and just steps from a sandy beach and buzzing Port Esportiu marina; the units are all fully furnished with double and sofa beds, storage chests and hanging space as well as fan heaters and a fridge. Outside there is covered wooden decking with a picnic table and chairs.
Of course, you’ll have all the facilities of the wider Vall d’Or Camping & Beach site, which include modern showers, washing machines and gated security. Also on offer within the complex are a playground and sports field, a licensed bar and restaurant – and if you want a change of scenery, there are numerous places to eat and drink just a few minutes’ walk away at the marina.
The pebble-and-sand beach itself is a hub for dinghy sailing, snorkelling and more high-octane watersports like jetskiing and paddleboarding; there’s a diving platform where you can sun yourself too. If you’re after a bit of nightlife, there’s a leisure centre close by with cinemas and a couple of clubs.

Local attractions
Beachwise, you have pretty much everything you need at Platja d’Aro, but should you desire a change of scenery, there are many other sandy Costa Brava stretches on offer. Punta del Pinell de Sa Conca (10 minutes’ drive) has excellent snorkelling around its rocky shoreline, the little cove at Cala Pola (45 minutes) has safe crystal-clear water for swimming, and you can get an all-over tan at nudist-friendly Platja de Vallpresona (half an hour).
There’s plenty to entertain all the family locally: Pp’s Park Platja d’Aro (five minutes) has waterslides and mini-train rides, and you can all stretch your brains to solve the puzzles at Escape Room World. Check your dates, and if you’re lucky, you can watch jousting during the medieval-themed fairs at Castell de Benedormiens (both 10 minutes).
Stunning Girona is only 45 minutes’ drive away for a day trip and a wander around the photogenic Barri Vell old town, or a visit to the 11th-century Banys Àrabs. Continuing with the urban theme, Caldes de Malavella (half an hour) is a spa town with ancient roots – you can explore the remains of its Roman-era baths before taking to the waters or booking a thoroughly 21st-century massage at one of the town’s modern spas.
