- In a mountain setting next to the Alta Garrotxa Nature Park
- Seven kilometres from Sant Llorenç and 25 from Figueres
- Pool, mini golf, restaurant, kids' club, and games room for teenagers
The team at TAIGA Bassegoda Park is rightly chuffed with its Catalonian campsite location: in Albanyà, right next to the Alta Garrotxa Nature Park, seven kilometres from the medieval town of Sant Llorenç de la Muga, and only 25 kilometres from Figueres, once home to Salvador Dali. Quite a few mountain biking trails traverse these parts too, as Bassegoda is a mountain sitting 1,373 metres above the sea.
On site, keep busy/basked at the swimming pool, open from June to September and overlooking the spectacular sites of the Spanish countryside, or at the spacious and grassy solarium with sun loungers and deckchairs – all sensibly set next to the bar terrace.
This is a site well set up for families too, with a kids' club keeping ages four to 12 busy with arts and crafts, drawing, scavenger hunts, clowns, magicians and sports and games, and with a games room specially designed for teenagers and equipped with table football, pool tables, air hockey, arcade games and music.
All ages can go along to the July and August entertainment, where there's a wide variety of activities including discos, karaoke, themed parties, comedians, aqua gym and quite a bit more. Not enough for you? Tee off at the Bassegoda Park 12-hole miniature golf course; clubs and balls can be rented in reception for a small fee.
For food, the Agumas restaurant has menus full of food from Catalunya and Empordá, and wines from Catalonia and La Rioja, for having under the stars in summer or cosily indoors by the hot chimney in the cooler months.
The site also has a supermarket with a good variety of products including groceries, cleaning equipment, toiletries and camping kit.

Local attractions
There's heaps to do around these mountainous parts, whether you want to stay close to base or have day trips out at the likes of Figueres.
Bassegoda's high-up location between Montagut and Albanyà in the Alt Empordà means it's cracking mountain biking territory; the site has info and rental services for the many mountain bike routes nearby including the Pincaró pass, the Alta Garrotxa trail, the Bassegoda trail and the local water trail.
Also nearby is the GR 11, the hiking trail running all the way along the Pyrenees and linking the Mediterranean sea with the Atlantic Ocean. It's a toughie because of its steep climbs and drops, but oh so well worth a go if you reckon your legs can handle it, as the views are just fab.
You could also meander along the banks and among the wildlife of the Muga river, take a 4X4 out among the Albanyà region's forest trails, or have a day among the pre-Romanesque and Romanesque buildings of Albanyà.
