  • Family campsite located in the spectacular Cabriel Valley near Cuenca
  • A 10-minute walk to Mira village; Talayuelas Canyon hiking 40 minutes
  • Football pitch, tennis court, outdoor pool and bar on site
Set in the middle of rugged landscapes in the dramatic Valle del Cabriel valley near Cuenca, Camping Hoces de Mira is a fabulous spot for anyone looking for lots of outdoor activities. Whether it be hiking through challenging mountain foothills, swimming or running around a pelota court, you’ll find it all in this secluded corner of Castilla-La Mancha. And you won’t even have to go far to find it all… right next door to the site is the sports hub for the hilltop village of Mira, with an outdoor pool and courts for pelota, tennis and five-a-side football games. It’s also a doddle to get out into the wild scenery of river gorges and canyons for strenuous hiking. Of course, if all that exertion doesn’t appeal, simply drift down into the pretty centre of Mira to while away time in the bars and cafés or check out some of the sights, including pilgrimage spots and historic churches. The campsite has a bunch of family-friendly amenities, including electrical hookups, laundry rooms and a service block with hot water. And of course there’s a bar on site too for those all important post-hike cool beers…

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Sehr freundlicher Empfang. Sanitär SEHR sauber!!

Disliked: Der Platz wird wohl demnächst "hergerichtet". Gras auf den Stellplätzen stand hoch. Die Saison hatte noch nicht begonnen... Der Bereich zum Geschirrspülen ist nicht zumutbar.

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Nothing about this site as even though Pitch up confirmed the reservation, on arrival the site was actually closed down and the gates chained and bolted! I find it hard to understand how Pitch up could say that our booking had been confirmed when the whole site was shut down and there was not a living soul there.🤬

Disliked: As above, likely to have had a lucky escape, even though Pitch up took their fee for an empty closed up site.

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Niets

Slechte prijs-kwaliteit verhouding.

From the manager: I'm sorry. What's really scary is your review. There may still be gaps that we're fixing, but that's not how you tell it, with all due respect. Soon everything will be solved. Thank you so much

Electric optional hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: There was nothing to like, the camping is gross. The man in charge is not really 100% in is head. He wanted €25 for 1 night, but I booked for €15. He is scary and not friendly. A little bit of a creap. Toilets are dirty, showers are dirty. The sinks smell. So please, don’t go to this camping.

Local attractions

Heading out for a hike? Plenty of great areas beckon in the surroundings, including Pico Ranera and the Reserva Natural de las Hoces del Cabriel (both half an hour’s drive) and the jagged red-hued scenery of Talayuelas Canyon (40 minutes). If you like to have a focal point for your rambles, maybe aim for the likes of Villapaz Viaduct (15 minutes) or the cave chapel Cueva de la Virgen de Tejeda (25 minutes). A pilgrimage to Ermita de San Antonio de Padua (20 minutes) might be on the cards too – it’s got a calm and spiritual vibe to it, but it’s worth noting the actual hermitage itself is only open on rare occasions. Meanwhile, if you’re keen on watery views, try an outing to the River Mira viewpoint (35 minutes) or take a walk to the dam at Benagéber Lake (55 minutes). You won’t be able to swim at either of these, but handily there’s a pool just next to the site for those times when you need to cool off.
