  • Glamping tents in the Sierra and Canyons of Guara Natural Park
  • A five-minute drive to Alquézar; hikes and canyoning close by
  • Swimming pool, play area and restaurant on site
A location tucked away in a forest of oak and olive trees within a natural park probably sounds pretty tempting… and it gets even better when you hear that you’ll be staying in a comfortable tent that’s all ready for you to move in and start your relaxation time in the fresh air… This is the setup you’ll get at Kampaoh Alquézar, part of a peaceful tree-filled campsite in the Sierra and Canyons of Guara Natural Park less than five minutes’ drive from the medieval village of Alquézar. The Moorish village is a fabulous place to visit for that feeling of stepping back in time, but it’s the countryside that draws a lot of guests here, with lots of options for activities like hiking, climbing and canyoning in the surrounding area (or wine tasting and castle visiting if that's more your style…) You can really afford to wear yourselves out with the activities here, knowing that you’ll be coming back to a comfortable place to rest in your glamping tent. Each one is kitted out with memory foam mattresses (with all bedding, pillows and towels provided too), lighting, chairs and tables, kitchenware and a beach cooler for storing your evening beers in – in short, most of the things you should need for a comfortable outdoor stay. The tree-lined glamping area is part of a larger campsite where you can take advantage of all sorts of extra facilities including a swimming pool, a play area, a picnic/barbecue area and a restaurant.

Local attractions

Start with a stroll around medieval Alquézar (five minutes’ drive), stopping in at the castle and Santa María la Mayor church before learning about the area’s history and winemaking activity at Casa Fabián Ethnological Museum. The things you learn there may prove useful when you’re touring the wineries around Barbastro (15 minutes' drive). Alquézar is also a hub for outdoor adventures like horse riding, canyoning and mountain biking, and there's climbing nearby at the Vía ferrata Peñas Juntas (15 minutes). For walks, wander along the Pasarelas del Vero walkways from the town, head out into the Río Vero Canyon (10 minutes) or take a circular walk to the Castillo de Ador ruins (20 minutes). You may well spot some wildlife while you’re out exploring, but if you’d like to be sure of seeing some animals, make an appointment to visit the Núcleo Zoológico Iris y Jardinería Iris (25 minutes), which is home to all sorts of exotic creatures.
