- Walk alongside and through the Rio Monachil with breathtaking views
Welcome to Camping Ruta del Purche, set half-way between the Sierra Nevada and Granada. It is located in the municipality of Monachil in the province of Granada. There you'll find yourself surrounded by chestnut trees, cherry trees, walnut trees and other fruit trees, all in an atmosphere of peace and quiet for you to relax immersed in a luxuriant nature.
There are beautiful separation walls made of natural stones through the campsite and along the little road going up on the mountainside... At the end of the pathway, there's a large climbing wall to practice some climbing if you want. Guests who love a little adventure will find a real mine of information at Camping Ruta del Purche, all necessary suggestions and tips in order to enjoy many activities.
There is a play area for toddlers and a pool, ideal for a refreshing dip during summertime and perfect to escape the sky-rocketing temperatures. Many other services and facilities are available at Ruta del Purche including a toilet block, free hot water and the right equipment for people with reduced mobility.
For grumbling stomachs and people who really don't like cooking while on holidays, the campsite has a restaurant serving exquisite traditional and typically rural meals. You'll find it across the road of Ruta del Purche; after all one can't visit this campsite without tasting some delicious home-cooked dishes such as black pudding, chorizo, papas a lo pobre (potatoes of the poor) or migas crumbs. Originally this latter used to be a breakfast dish that made use of leftover bread or tortas, today migas is a fashionable first course served for lunch and dinner in restaurants. We're drooling on our keyboard simply writing this gastronomic description...

Many sites set a maximum occupancy of 6/8 people per pitch, so try breaking your booking down into smaller groups to generate more results. For example, if you’re a group of 10, enter 5 people in your initial search and then book 2 pitches.
However, where the pitch or accommodation occupancy allows it, you can make a booking for up to 30 adults and 30 children in one booking.
To book multiple pitches or accommodation, use the 'Special requests' box on the booking page to ask to be sited together. Complete the booking form for the first booking (you can add a password and save your card so that we remember your details). Then click "Make another booking like this" at the top of the confirmation page to make the next booking.

Monachil is a tiny tiny village located only eight kilometres from the centre of Granada. Despite being close to an urban centre bursting with activity, it remains a place that is relatively well preserved and far from mass tourism. The boundaries of the province of Monachil are fairly extensive and include several peaks over 3000m, including Europe's most southerly ski station – Pradollano, Sierra Nevada.
If you love nice walks through beautiful landscapes, Camping Ruta del Purche is the ideal base for you as you can easily reach Los Cahorros. The impressive Los Cahorros gorge is two kilometres from the sleepy village centre and until very recently, the gorge was only really known and appreciated in rock climbing circles, the steep limestone cliffs offering numerous routes for climbers.
Nowadays, due to the word of mouth, larger numbers of people find their way to this natural paradise. One route in particular, is exceptionally beautiful and suitable for families with children: a walk alongside and through the Rio Monachil - the Monachil river. The place offers breathtaking views, waterfalls, plenty of rock pools for swimming, narrow caves and tunnels that you have to crawl through or hang off the rock face, walking alongside acequia that date back to Moorish times and, of course, the famous hanging bridges. The hike takes you through some spectacular Andalucian countryside.
After long walks and climbing in the area you'll probably be starving for some delicious comfort food so why not head to La Chistera in Monachil for delicious tapas and pizza, a warm service all in a lovely location next to the river.
