General

  • In the Sierra Nevada National Park a short drive from Granada
  • In a wildlife haven near the small town of Pinos Genil
  • Bar, restaurant and café serving home-cooked meals

What a verily viewsome valley location has Fuente del Lobo: overlooking a gorge, it's in the Sierra Nevada National Park and near the town of Pinos Genil, a mere 30-minute drive from both Granada’s fably vibrant city centre and Pradollano ski resort (which morphs into a mountain bike park in the summer). And, even better, it has most easy access to heaps of hiking and cycling routes around the lands of the national park.

A smashing outdoor pool and a café, bar and restaurant are all on site for your back-at-base leisure time – evenings here consist of sitting back and sipping cocktails while listening to mixes from resident DJs, dining on local cuisine and peaceful pool dips.

You'll find lots to do in the surrounding locale, such as hiking and cycling among the landscape around the site, skiing and snowboarding in Pradollano and day trips to Grenada – and if you require any more local tips, have a word with the friendly del Lobo team who can point you in the right direction.

Please note

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 15/06 and 15/09 (subject to weather conditions).

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

I was struggling to think of anything I liked....then I remembered that I admired the original concept & thought behind the design & construction, plus the surrounding scenery was stunning.

    Disliked:

Where do I begin? Half the advertised facilities weren't available.
    1 No supermercado.
2 The restaurant opened on Wednesday evening for the first time and filled with men mostly drinking.
    3 No Lavanderia

It wasn't remotely welcoming, the showers and vestuarios were dirty though the toilets were reasonably clean. The whole site desperately needed maintenance. No wifi on site. To cap it all it was by far the most expensive campsite or Aire that we've stayed at, certainly in no way value for money.

Local attractions

Lace up your walking boots and prepare for lots of tramping: Fuente del Lobo is well-placed for waterside walks along the Genil river, as well as hikes around the wider Sierra Nevada National Park; and as the park has been designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, its lands are also a splendid spot for birdwatching and wildlife spotting.

Sierra Nevada National Park is home to the highest peaks of the Iberian peninsula (Mulhacén and Veleta), so skiing is a particularly popular pursuit around these parts in winter. The ski resort of Pradollano lies a mere 30-minute drive away, and a few of its 121 marked runs begin almost at the summit of 3,395 metre-high Veleta; there are cross-country routes and a separate snowboard area (home to Spain's longest half-pipe), plus a kids' snow park and a slope especially for families to ski together on. If you’re into a nighttime ski, Thursdays and Saturdays are when you can do that here. In summer, Pradollano keeps three of its 22 lifts open, as the station becomes a mountain bike park crisscrossed by around 30 kilometres of trails.

Weeks’ worth of sightseeing, shopping and sampling local cuisine are over in Granada, half an hour’s drive away, which is filled to the gills with monuments from various eras: its most famed landmark has got to be its Alhambra palace and the Court of the Lions, but others to tick off the must-see list are the Royal Chapel of Granada, the Arc of Elvira and Granada Cathedral. Another sight worth a look see is the city’s science park, for spectacular views from its 50-metre observation tower.
