What a splendid-looking beach… and all only a 400-metre stroll from splendid-looking Camping Paloma, a site set on the southernmost point of Cádiz's Costa de la Luz – and in one of the most southerly spots in Europe in Spain's deepest south.

Camping Paloma is based at the seaside town of Tarifa, known worldwide for its wind sports like windsurfing and kitesurfing, and for its buildings of European and Arabic style: its setting not far from Africa means it has the mountains of Morocco and the lights of Tangier visible across the Strait of Gibraltar.

Back at base, the site has a generously-sized pool to splash in, and a playground to keep the kids busy while the grownups prep dinner on the barbie. Maps of the area are in reception and the friendly team can give you all the info you need to arrange trips out into the surrounding countryside.

And if you're pondering losing a few pounds while on hol…? This is very much not the place to do so: Camping Paloma days can be started with breakfast at the bar's terrace along with a surf of the free wifi, then, perhaps, tapas and burgers for elevenses, lunch and dins… ? Or you could pick up piles of produce at the mini market, where the offerings include bread and pastries, fresh fruit and veg, and tasty ice cream.

Thank you very much for your comment.
We are sorry to hear about the dirty washing up area, we clean it 2 times a day, and in high season more often. We have in our first public shower/bathroom building on the campside, a grey water dump and in 16 of our plots it´s also intergrated, we are sorry that you didn´t know about this. We don´t supply toilet paper and soap, these are one of the politics of the campsite.

    Very clean, big campsite. Helpful reception staff. Bus arrives outside camp to take you into town. Great beach nearby.
    Disliked: 

    No toilet roll in facilities had to keep remembering to take your own. The pool wasn’t open until late morning so I couldn’t swim as had to time the bus into town for a day out. (The buses are not too frequent so got to time it right). WiFi didn’t work

Thank you for your comments.
In the past we supplied toiletpaper in the toilets, but unfortunately we have had bad experience, bad higiene and mis use of the paper rolls, so we prefer that guests bring their own.
We have specific opening hours for our pool, in order to have sufficient time for maintenance and for our swimming-pool guard to work during the most busy hours in high season.
We do have free wifi, but only in the common areas of the camping (recepcion, terace area).

    The campsite was large and very shaded, staff were friendly. Good restaurant and supermarket on site that were open all day. Location is brilliant as it is walking distance from the beach. It's just a 5 minute drive into Tarifa itself. Nice pool, if a little small, but in a sunny location.
    Disliked: 

    The toilets and showers were quite dated, and although clean they looked scruffy. There was no toilet paper or soap in any of the units.

Local attractions

Watersports, secluded beach basks, ancient sites and green gardens are all within easy reach of Camping Paloma, along with a vast range of activities: the reception staff can help you arrange climbing, mountain biking, quad tours, birdwatching tours and lessons in diving, surfing and windsurfing as well as day trips to Morocco.

The beach of Valdevaqueros, 400 metres away from the site, is a fave throughout Spain for its surf, and has a beachfront and surrounds crammed with restaurants and chiringuitos for tapas and cerveza after an afternoon among the waves. Other popular sandy stretches like Playa de los Lances and Playa de Bolonia are within a short drive, and the secluded Playa de los Alemanes is next to Zahara de los Atunes, the fishing village famed for its tasty tuna: try it out in one of the many restaurants and bars.

Local town Tarifa dates back to the eighth century and has many a sight to see, like tenth-century Guzman castle near the port (most recommended), the sixteenth-century Church of St Matthew built over a former mosque, and the Roman ruins of Baelo Claudia and the Necrópolis de los Algarbes.

Tarifa is in the migrating bird haven of the Intercontinental Mediterranean Biosphere Reserve: look out for storks flapping ahead over the Straits of Gibraltar in spring and autumn.

Please read the park terms and conditions below and the Pitchup.com terms and conditions.

Admission
Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Unsupervised minors must have a letter of authorisation from their parents or legal guardian.

Arrivals and departures
Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Dogs
A valid vaccination certificate must accompany your dog.
Dogs are required to wear a muzzle.
Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.
The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.
Your dog must be tattooed or microchipped.

Extras
Motorbike(s) can be brought instead of the car(s) included.

General
Bookings are nominative and non-transferable.
In the event of a complaint, please speak to reception immediately. Complaints which are not brought to the management's attention during your stay cannot be dealt with once you have left the site.
Quiet hours must be respected between 12 a.m. and 7 a.m..
Radio, music and TV players must be kept at a low volume. Car doors and boots must be closed quietly.
The bar and/or restaurant is open between 01/04 and 30/09.
The grocery shop is open between 24/02 and 01/11.
The management reserves the right to deny access or terminate the stay of those guests whose behaviour is deemed unsuitable. No refunds will be offered.
You'll need an Environment Agency rod licence (you'll need to apply for this beforehand).

Pitches
You must follow the management directives when pitching your tent/unit and related equipment.

Pool
Only park guests are authorised to use the pool.
Swimsuits are obligatory and swimming shorts or Bermuda shorts are not permitted.
The outdoor swimming pool is open between 15/06 and 15/09 (subject to weather conditions).

Reception
Reception is open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. between 27/02 and 01/11.
Reception is unmanned after 10 p.m.. Please inform the site while on your way there should you expect to arrive after this time, so that the team can provide information about your unit/pitch.

Safety
Barbecues are permitted but must be raised off the ground and attended by an adult at all times.
Open fires are prohibited.

Taxes
This area is not subject to city tax.

Vehicles
No vehicle movement between 12 a.m. and 7 a.m..
The car is only included in the rate if you are travelling with a touring caravan or a tent. If you wish to bring a car along with your motorhome/campervan please select the extra.

Visitors
Visitors must leave the premises by 8 p.m..
Visitors must register at reception and pay their fee.
