If you’re the kind that likes to spend a lot of time on the beach during your holiday, take your pick of the shaded and non-shaded pitches at TAIGA Tarifa Valdevaqueros. This Andalusia site is set on a hill surrounded by green fields and trees, and has a subway passage that provides a route under the main road to the famed soft white sand of Valdevaqueros beach. For those times when the beach feels too far or the waves are too choppy, the site has a large swimming pool (one of the largest in the area, they say) and a paddling pool. Valdevaqueros beach is a stunning place to unwind, lined with a couple of beach bars and kitesurfing or windsurfing activities. It’s not the only beach in the area, either; gorgeous spots like Playa de Los Lances, Playa Chica and Bolonia beach are all within 15 minutes’ drive. That means you could probably spend a good few days simply bouncing between all the local beaches – although you may like to mix in a bit of horse riding, whale watching or exploring the natural parks of El Estrecho and Los Alcornocales. Then again, you might also like to factor in some time just to chill out on site – a tempting idea, given that the pitches here are nicely laid out among the trees and hedges to give shelter and privacy. A playground, tennis court, football court and pétanque court are on site to keep active types entertained. This site has a restaurant and a mini market, so you’ll be sorted for food even on days when you don’t feel like going out. Tarifa (10 minutes’ drive) has a good collection of shops and places to eat, and there are a few beachside places scattered closer to the site too.

Liked Der Platz war sehr sauber und die Toiletten wurden drei mal am Tag gesäubert. Sehr wichtig, wenn man das Toilettenpapier nicht in die Toilette entsorgen soll.
Der Service war sehr nett und zum Strand sind es keine 10 Minuten Fußweg.

Liked El camping esta muy bien y tranquilo cerca de Algeciras buena señalización.

Disliked Llegamos y nos pusieron al sol teniendo la reserva a la sombra con más de un mes de antelación y no nos pusieron junto a los familiares que íbamos ,que lo habiamos especificado.

Liked Camping tranquilo y acogedor. Cerca de la playa y de un par de chiringuitos con buen ambiente. Las dunas de Valdevaqueros preciosas a 20 min en bici. Y las de Bolonia algo más lejos.

Disliked Está alejado de Tarifa, si vas en autocaravana y no tienes cómo moverte no ves mucho más.

Beach time? Plenty of choices for that – as well as your local sandy stretch, you could also aim for Playa de Los Lances (10 minutes’ drive), which has family areas and watersports areas for windsurfing and kitesurfing, or Playa Chica (15 minutes), in a sheltered spot on the other side of Tarifa. Bolonia beach (15 minutes) is a gorgeous place that’s one of the few undeveloped spots left on this stretch of the Andalusia coast. Head here to clamber to the top of the huge Duna de Bolonia or explore the ruins of the Roman city of Baelo Claudia, just behind the beach. If you like the heritage sites, add Castillo de Guzman el Bueno (15 minutes) to your schedule, or outings to villages like Zahara de los Atunes (25 minutes) and Castellar de la Frontera (50 minutes). For something more intrepid, you could even do a day trip to an entirely different continent, as the ferries from Tarifa to Tangier only take around half an hour…
