If sandy beaches, ocean views and sunsets that are muy bonito is your dream recipe for switched-off hols, park up for a stay at Sanlúcar AC Parking, a family-friendly site 10 minutes’ drive from the town of Sanlúcar de Barrameda in the Cadiz province of Spain’s Andalucía. The site is right on the Costa de la Luz, so pack for beachy days under the Spanish sun, as the nearest beach is about a minute’s walk from base, and a quick jaunt into Sanlúcar will set you up for paddleboarding, canoeing and kayaking along the town’s sandy stretches. For a change of scenery, climb into the saddle to pedal along the fab coastal greenway from Sanlúcar to Chipiona, with stops at the 13th-century castle and stunning lighthouse. And then? Take a break from sand, surf and cycling with a day kicking back on site: put your feet up, grab a book and pass some time in peace and quiet, or steal a little siesta in the lazy, hazy afternoon hours. When you’re ready to eat, saunter across the road to Gaspar’s for some eats, or wander into town for tapas and more substantial fare. A short stroll will bring you to the local for a few drinks, but don’t forget to poke your head outside to take in the spectacular sunset at some point during the evening (ideally at sunset).

Liked: Lovely quiet campsite with very friendly, helpful hosts. Toilet block is basic and clean. Bus stop outside the site to Sanlucar De Barrameda which is worth a visit. No barking dogs which is a a very welcome bonus for someone with a hearing impairment. Great wifi.

Liked: Reasonable pitch sizes. Convenient electric points. Very good use of LED lighting around the site. Decent showers (1€ for 5 mins), 3 washing machines (2 @3€ and 1 @4€) Good WiFi Level Pitches Good price.

Disliked: Lack of hot water for washing up.

Liked: Schöner, gepflegter Platz in der Nähe des Atlantik. Besonders die großen Plätze bieten viel Privatsphäre. Stellplatz-Preise sind okay. Zwei nette Orte in der Nähe

Disliked: Sanitäranlagen nicht auf dem neuesten Stand, aber sehr sauber. Leider nur zwei Duschen verfügbar- zu wenig für den Platz. Strom optional mit 4 Ampere für 4 € am Tag etwas überteuert.

Liked: Such a friendly site and all the staff were really helpful. Plenty of room at the grass pitches with privacy. The toilets were kept really clean. Very close to beach. The WiFi was really good.

Disliked: The showers were a little cold for my liking so it was a quick in and out which is no bad thing when there is a water shortage here. Lots of fireworks over Christmas as in a village but it wouldn’t have bothered me if I didn’t have the dog with me.

Liked: We were welcomed by Alfonso, a warm friendly welcome. He suggested that we walk the campsite and choose one that we would like. We chose a very large one surrounded by a green hedge offering some privacy. Our pitch like the others we looked at had a level, gravel hard standing to park on with lawn to place tables and chairs etc under our awning. We loved it. There's electricity if required. It's rated at 4 amp. Which was plenty for us for all lighting, battery charger, fridge, router, TV and toaster etc. Alfonsos site office has some essentials for sale and there's a Baker who delivers fresh bread daily at 0930. The toilets and hot showers are simple but very clean. The site is almost on the beach. We walked along it for several kilometres enjoying the fresh air and exercise. There's a nearby beach bar/restaurant/chiringuito that was closed for the winter when we were staying, but we walked towards the town and came across 2 ventas within a 15 minute walk. The Daily Telegraph recently printed a list of the 10 best places in Spain to visit, Yes it's Sanlucar de Barrameda that got the top spot! A gastronomic experience to be had here. There's an old town to walk through too that has a great atmosphere. This campsite and town should be on your bucket list. We can't wait to return.

Local attractions

There’s plenty to do within an hour and a half of the site, but before you wander too far have a nose around Sanlúcar de Barrameda. The seaside town has palaces and castles, bike tours and scenic ruins, but it’s fans of the vino who’ll be best served: there are dozens of bodegas to choose from, and many are handily within walking (stumbling?) distance of home base. Stick with the urban with a day trip to Jérez (35 minutes’ drive) for museums, horseback riding tours and the zoo, or to Cadiz (40 minutes) for castles, Roman ruins and the pretty 18th-century gardens at Park Genoves. If that’s not enough for you, Seville and its three UNESCO World Heritage Sites are an hour and a half away, with the extremely photographic Plaza de España an absolute must. For some time in the outdoors, head 25 minutes away to Doñana National Park, Europe’s largest nature reserve: trek along the wetland trails, through the pine forests and among the dunes and keep an eye out for lynx and the elusive Spanish imperial eagle. Fancy pushing the boat out a bit? Clamber aboard a ferry in Tarifa (an hour and a half from base); within an hour or so, you’ll be strolling the streets, markets and galleries of Tangier, Morocco.

All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Changes to your holiday

Changes cannot be made once you have booked.

Dogs

Dogs must be kept on leads and supervised at all times.

Extras

A charge of €0.50 (£0.44) applies for the use of the shower.
Motorbike(s) can be brought instead of the car(s) included.
