Are you a Spanish sun seeker? How sensible. Get guaranteed sunshiney and dry days with a stay at in Almeria: this is the most arid area in Europe and so sunny a spot that many an American spaghetti Western was shot in these here parts.

The campsite is in the Mojácar region of Almeria, an area that gets over 3,000 hours of sun a year and where the infrequent rain is rapidly laughed off by the toasty warm atmosphere. It's between the Sierra Cabrera mountain range and the white sandy beaches and clear waters of the Mediterranean, only a short stroll from its nearest beach Playa Macenas.

For sunny days on site, Cueva Negra comes with a pool, a paddling pool, a playground, table tennis and pétanque. A tennis court is available for an extra charge.

All too energetic for you? Get sunny-natured with an immersion in the spring waters of the Jacuzzi or settle down in the sauna and hammam, also available on site for a small extra charge.

Local attractions

If you want to see typical old Almeria, have a walk around ancient and nearby Mojácar, a mountain village with the white buildings typical of this arid area.

A couple of kilometres south of the town is the tourist resort of Mojacar Playa, with 17km of award-winning clean beaches, beach bars, shops and watersports such as sailing, diving, windsurfing, jetskiing and waterskiing.

Within a short drive of is the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park, the biggest protected coastal area in Andalucia, a  UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 1997 and filled with spectacular beaches such as the famed naturist beach Playa de los Muertos and – eep – the Beach of the Dead, the beach of Los Genoveses, Monsul and many more: we solemnly say you could hang around these sands for months.

A bit further way but still within day trip distance are the  Mini Hollywood or Oasys theme park in Tabernas for Western fans and the Parque Acuatico Vera waterpark. The city of Almeria, with famed Alcazaba fortress, is just over 80km away.
