  • Well-maintained Almería holiday park with sea views
  • A kilometre from Las Negras; Almería city 50 minutes' drive
  • Outdoor pool, watersports, kids' play area, restaurant and food shop
It's all about the beach at WeCamp Cabo de Gata, where the deep blue waters and rocky vistas of the Andalusian coastline are never more than a few steps away. Located in Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park, a protected area home to tons of wildlife, this well-kept site is about a kilometre outside the seaside village of Las Negras, a peaceful spot with restaurants, ice cream stands and a traditional whitewashed windmill. You won't need to do any driving here if you're after places to swim or surf – the mix of sand and shingle spots between the site and the village have plenty of quiet areas where you can settle down for some sunshine. WeCamp Cabo de Gata can also organise kayak rental, snorkelling and boat trips out to remote beaches that can’t be reached by land. Diving centres are a short drive away for those who want a closer look at the local sealife. Back at base, other leisure facilities include an outdoor pool and a kids' play area. The park is well-equipped for practical needs too, with a restaurant, food shop, free wifi and a laundry room. The friendly staff at reception will be happy to help you settle into the local area, but for more detailed itineraries or maps, you may want to head to the nearest tourist information centre in Rodalquilar (10 minutes' drive).

What customers say

This is a beautiful, well-maintained campsite with a stunning natural location, offering direct beach access. Visitors consistently praise the friendly and helpful staff, clean and spacious facilities (especially the showers), and the peaceful atmosphere. The site is well-shaded, easy to navigate, and offers good-sized pitches, though some found them a squeeze. The proximity to Las Negras village for amenities is also a plus. The access road is noted as steep and narrow by some. A few minor issues were mentioned, including temporary closures of the restaurant and a pool.

Standard electric optional gravel and earth touring pitch

Liked Great site, friendly staff, right next to the beach.
We only stayed overnight but would definitely stay again for longer.
The shower cubicles had plenty of room to hang your towel and clothes without getting wet which was an absolute bonus.
The site was well shaded and easy to navigate.

Disliked Our only moan was that the deeper pool was closed and so was the restaurant but I believe they were both being updated. We didn't know this before we arrived but it wasn't important for an overnight stop.

Standard electric optional gravel and earth touring pitch

Liked Stunning location and clean tidy and peaceful site with all the usual facilities.

Disliked The one road in and out is a bit hair raising with parts just a sheer drop. No room for two vehicles to pass and no form of flow control to give you the confidence that you will not meet something coming the other way.
Stayed on a standard pitch which seemed very small width wise.
Motorhome pitches are in bays of 10 and gravelled. If you are on the end, everybody walking back and forth to their pitches crunched on the gravel. Only a problem as you get into the late evening and early morning when it becomes annoying.

Standard electric optional gravel and earth touring pitch

Liked The campsite is in a lovely location with a beach 5 min walk away. The reception staff are very helpful and offered a bigger pitch when we found our original pitch too small. Bathroom facilities clean and showers hot.

Disliked Restaurant staff abrupt and insistant on moving people around to eat only in a specific area.

Standard electric optional gravel and earth touring pitch

Liked Lovely position, lovely beach, great little fishing town with restaurants etc within walking distance, great walks, felt remote which was nice.

Disliked Pitches although decent size all had scaffolding poles right in the middle of them so very difficult to actually get onto them, was very steep narrow road to get to the place too, wifi was pointless due to being in such a low position between the two huge rocks..but it was nice to feel more off grid I guess
Pitches were not kept clean, I had to clean up ours from rubbish before we could let our dog out.

Local attractions

Rodalquilar (10 minutes' drive) is a good place to start when you venture away from Las Negras – with its gold mines, botanical garden, castle and viewpoints, there's something in this small town to keep most visitors interested. Next up is Agua Amarga (30 minutes), where fine sandy beaches and the Mesa de Roldán lighthouse and hiking area make for thoroughly decent days out. Leave the coast behind and head inland to explore the desert-like landscapes around Níjar (30 minutes), where you can pick up artisan-made souvenirs at one of the town's small-scale ceramics factories, take a turn round a spectacular cactus garden, visit the town's museum or hike up to an old watchtower for far-reaching views over the surrounding area. Once you've seen a bit of town and country, head to Almería city (50 minutes) for more urban days out. With a cathedral, Spanish Civil War caves and a 10th-century fortress to its name, this place is quieter than many Andalusian cities but still has a lot of historic attractions to explore, plus big-city shopping opportunities at Mediterráneo shopping centre.
