  • Peaceful family- and dog-friendly site in the outskirts of Wrocław
  • Close to the airport and half-hour bus ride from the city centre
  • Shared kitchen and firepit area; sports field and kit on site
If you’re a fan of green scenes, but like to remain within easy reach of city lights, make your way to Gadabout Hostel and Camp, in the outskirts of Wrocław. The whole gang is welcome at this conveniently located place (dog included). It’s a mere five minutes from the airport (just two stops on the bus if you’re arriving by plane), and the nifty public transport links into the city centre are similarly handy for days out – it's about a half-hour jaunt by bus to museums and monuments. If you’d rather stay put for some peace and quiet, there’s plenty of field space here for relaxing days at base. Make the most of your quiet surrounds and plonk yourself down on the outdoor seating with a book, or up the pace with a game of volleyball, badminton or football (balls and rackets are provided). The team on site get involved in the sports when they’re free, so be prepared for things to get competitive. The calm continues in the evenings, with guests encouraged to gather around the toasty firepit for chilled nights in. Food-wise, barbecues are permitted and, if you’re not a fan of the grill, there’s a shared kitchen area equipped with dishes and some seating. There are also communal toilets and showers on site.

Local attractions

For more greenery to wander, Park Strachowicki is a few minutes from the site, with ponds and a kids’ playground. If you fancy getting wet, there’s an indoor swimming pool, Orbita, or you can show off your moves on the ice at Lodowisko Orbita skating rink (both 20 minutes’ drive). There’s plenty to do if you head into Wrocław centre. Start with the cobbled Market Square and keep your eyes peeled for Wrocław's dwarfs while you explore the city. These small figurines dotted around have become something of an attraction themselves, with maps helping you combine dwarf hunting with sightseeing. Dwarf pals aside, sights to look out for include the Gothic town hall, which houses a history museum, the impressive St. Elizabeth's Church and the Panorama of the Battle of Racławice – the painting is a hefty 114 metres long and 15 metres high, so it’s hard to miss. For more kid-friendly stuff, visit Wrocław’s Multimedia Fountain for water, light and sound shows, or head to the waterslides at the Aquapark. You could also stroll around the Zoo and Afrykarium (aquarium) and, if you’re not fazed by heights, the viewpoint on the 49th floor of the Sky Tower is a fab way to see your surrounds.
