  • Family-friendly lakeside site five minutes' drive from Zator
  • Energylandia and Zatorland amusement parks five minutes' drive away
  • Summer beach area with beach bar; top-notch restaurant on site
There are lakes all around Scandinavia Resort – and that makes for a most scenic outlook at this Małopolska site. Looking out over those views can be done from the tables and benches scattered around the site, or from the beach area that opens up in summer with deckchairs, parasols and a beach bar for a comfy day by the water. If you fancy mixing up your chillout time with a tad more activity, head to the volleyball court, accompany the nippers to the playground or get out for a waterside walk along the trails of the Carp Valley and Natura 2000 nature area just next to the site (dogs are welcome to join you on those walks and on site – cue tails wagging in approval…) Eats are easily sorted here too, as there’s a large restaurant on site that serves up a top-notch menu (mixing up bits of Polish cuisine with hints of Scandi influences) in a smart industrial-style interior. If that’s a bit fancy, grab a spot at the beach bar for drinks, pizzas and alfresco coffees. And where is this little pocket of rural loveliness? Far, far away from all civilisation? Not at all – it’s a mere five minutes’ drive (or half-hour walk) from the centre of Zator, putting supermarkets and eateries within easy reach. Family outings to the likes of Energylandia and Zatorland are also within a few minutes’ drive, and city wanders in Katowice and Krakow are about an hour away.

Local attractions

If you’re keen to see more of the local sights, set off for the Prince's Castle in Zator (five minutes’ drive) or head south to walk along the pretty pathways of John Paul II's Garden (20 minutes) – there are some fine views over Romerów Palace to be had from here too if you climb up the lookout tower. They’re proud of their links to the former pontiff around here, and if you’d like to pay your respects too you can take a trip to the Family House of the Holy Father John Paul II in Wadowice (20 minutes), which has been turned into a museum housing photos and other memorabilia. For further insights into local life and heritage, stop by at the open-air museum in Wygiełzów (15 minutes) or buzz your way around Apilandia (25 minutes), a beekeeping museum with hands-on features like candle-making and honey tastings. Once the kids have done their history homework, treat them to outings to Energylandia or Zatorland amusement parks (both five minutes away) or head over to meet the cute critters at AgroKucyk MiniZoo (25 minutes).
