There’s plenty of spectacular natural beauty to discover; go hiking among verdant rainforest at Limbujan (20 minutes’ drive) or wander among the undulating hills at Canquiante Grassland (15 minutes). Walk up to the Mining and Abaca waterfalls (both about 40 minutes’ drive and then 20 minutes’ walk) for refreshing dips in the pools at their feet. You can wade out to the vegetation-topped Mushroom Islands from your pitch in Panay Beach, or take a small boat out to Minalongon, a tiny islet in the middle of Matarinao Bay where you can lay in the sand, snorkel and snooze gently under the canopy of palm trees. Other options for days of leisurely beach hopping include the narrow crescent at Basyao (10 minutes) and the white sands at Panglaw (15 minutes), edged by great granite boulders.
