- Scenic site next to Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen nature reserve
- On the outskirts of Vogelenzang, a 20-minute drive from Loveland Beach
- Heated pools, sports field, playground, restaurant, bar and small shop
Bag yourself an ahhhh-worthy spot among the tall trees at Camping Vogelenzang, a site right next to North Holland’s Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen nature reserve in a region surrounded by tulip fields. The North Sea coastline is a 20-minute drive away – or a scenic couple of hours’ wander through the nature reserve to Loveland beach – and the park’s on the outskirts of Vogelenzang village with its array of amenities.
Stock up at the shops here, then get ready to chill out: the site’s got heated adult and kids’ swimming pools to float in, and a cosy restaurant with a heated terrace for relaxing meals.
For active times, a sports field and a play area are on the grounds and the park also invites an entertainment team along during high season and public holidays to keep guests occupied. A bar serving snacks is on hand too, so it's easy to grab eats between organised activities like bingo, dart games and live music. A widescreen TV’s also set up for catching the football, and there are table games including air hockey, pinball and pool.
After more eats? A small shop on site sells fresh bread and orange juice for the morning, along with homemade pickles, honey and marmalade for sandwiches. Wifi is available at the park and there’s bike rental as well.

Local attractions
The Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen reserve, a few minutes’ walk away, is a stunning spot for a wander. Spanning 3,400 hectares, it’s the biggest nature reserve on the Dutch coast and has forests, dunes and heathland to explore. There’s no need to stick to the paths here – going off-piste often rewards roamers with a glimpse of roe, fallow deer and foxes.
Kids not too keen on hikes? Make their day by toting them off to Linneaushof (10 minutes’ drive) which has more than 350 different types of playground equipment to dash between.
Alternatively, dawdle off to ooh and ahh over the plant life at Keukenhof, one of the world’s biggest gardens (10 minutes), or swot up on the local area at De Cruquius, a museum in an old pump station (20 minutes), if you’re more into history than horticulture.
Swayed by the idea of visiting the Netherlands’ cities? Good shout. Haarlem (25 minutes) has cobblestone lanes and gabled buildings to admire, while Leiden (30 minutes) is known for its botanical garden and the displays of Dutch Masters’ works at The Museum of Lakenhal. The canals and higgledy-piggledy buildings of Amsterdam, meanwhile, are an hour’s drive away.
