Local attractions

Kick off your hols with a few lungfuls of fresh air – the site is on the edge of the Maasduinen National Park, giving guests easy access to the walking trails and bike paths that run through the woods and dunes. Keep your eyes open as you roam – badgers, snakes and foxes are among the wildlife you might spot at ground level, with at least 100 species of birds flying overhead. Further wanders in the area might take you to Kasteeltuinen Arcen gardens (20 minutes’ drive), Helmond castle (40 minutes) or an arty amble around the Van Gogh Village in Nuenen (45 minutes). If the day turns out to be a tad damp, turn your attentions to the Overloon War Museum (20 minutes) or escape to Eindhoven (50 minutes) for the Philips Museum, DAF Museum and a brewery visit. If that’s all too much meandering and museum-ing for the mini members of the family, ramp up the fun levels with outings to Billy Bird Park amusement park or Toverland theme park, both about half an hour away. Critter spotting at Dierenrijk zoo (50 minutes) is a popular pick too, especially if you can time your trip for feeding time.
