  • Family-centric site overlooking Lemelerberg heathland near Den Ham
  • A 20-minute drive to Aquaventura Slidepark, and 35 minutes to Zwolle
  • Playgrounds and animals on site; shops and bars 10 minutes’ drive
Located near Den Ham in the Overijssel region, De Regge-Vallei is a family-run farm with a variety of pitches and accommodation plus magnificent views over Lemelerberg heathland. This is an ideal base for families and friends seeking some rural peace and quiet. The site is wonderfully family orientated, with chickens to be fed and ponies to be ridden; there’s plenty of grassy space for kids to run around safely and lots of entertainment for them too, including a pétanque court, climbing frames and ball pits. As there is direct access to the countryside of Salland, Twente and the Vechtdal, it’s a fantastic base or overnight stop for long-distance cyclists and walkers. You’re also close to fishing rivers, tennis courts and golf courses. On-site amenities include a launderette, plus a communal fridge and freezer in the shower block, which has hot and cold running water and underfloor heating, lovely for cooler mornings. There’s a free wifi connection, and charging facilities too. Pick up barbecue bits and pieces in supermarkets at Den Ham (10 minutes’ drive), where you’ll also find restaurants and bars.

Local attractions

Keen to get out and about in peaceful countryside? Cycle or hike on winding roads through green meadows and past old Saxon-era farms. Forests and nature reserves nearby include the Sallandse Heuvelrug (20 minutes’ drive) and the Lemelerberg (accessed from the site), while you can clamber across sand dunes at Sahara (15 minutes). There’s lots of manmade stuff to see as well: elegant Kasteel Eerde (10 minutes) offers lovely gardens and guided tours of sumptuous rooms. The lively town of Zwolle (35 minutes) has an excellent art museum and electric boat cruises along the Almelose and Stadsgracht canals. You can also enjoy good food and shopping in nearby Ommen (20 minutes) and Hellendoorn (15 minutes). The kids will want to make a beeline for the rollercoasters at AdventurePark Hellendoorn and the waterslides at Aquaventura Slidepark. They can also let off steam on go-karts and by playing laser tag at Kartplaza Actionworld (all 20 minutes).
