- Peaceful family-friendly site in the Gelderse Achterhoek
- Surrounded by 900 hectares of countryside for walks and bike rides
- Cosy café, miniature golf course and solar-heated outdoor pool
Reckon 900 hectares will give you enough space for all the walks and bike rides you’ve got planned for your hols? Then off with you to the little Gelderland town of Rekken and a stay at Camping Den Borg.
The folk here have calculated that sizeable figure for the outdoorsy space that awaits here, taking in both the immediate surrounds of the Gelderse Achterhoek and what lies beyond in the Twente region or over the border in Germany. It’s all heaths, forests, meadows and streams around these parts, and it’s a fine idea to hire bikes on site to get out and see as much of it as your legs will allow.
If you've brought the small sorts along such plans may have to wait a little, for it’s highly possible that they’ll be a tad distracted by the prospect of swooshing down the waterslide into the solar-heated open air pool, putting their way round the miniature golf course and/or having a runabout on the sports field. Come along in summer and you’ll likely have to factor in a bit of time for the activities laid on here on a daily basis.
The good news about all that of course is the extra time it leaves for the grownups: spend it having a snooze on your peaceful pitch or strolling over to the café to laze on a sofa by the fireplace (or take your place on the terrace if it's outdoor weather).

Local attractions
Some folk have been known to say that the Gelderse Achterhoek is the best place in the country for bike rides – judge that statement for yourself by bringing or hiring a bike to pedal between fields, villages and historic sights.
Aim for the 12th-century church tower in Eibergen (20 minutes’ bike ride), the water mill in Borculo (45 minutes) and Ruurlo castle (an hour) or potter gently around the Haaksbergerveen nature reserve (10 minutes) in search of the birds that like to flit around the place.
Give the biking legs a rest for a bit by heading over the German border to Ellewick (10 minutes’ drive) to paddle a canoe on the Berkel river. Need more of a rest? Board a boat in Borculo (25 minutes) to cruise the waters instead, or head to Harfsen (40 minutes) to take in the view from a hot air balloon.
Also on the schedule around here could be a game of farmers’ golf (go and find out) and a taste of homemade cheese at the Weenink cheese farm (20 minutes), or trips to the Henriette Polak Museum in Zutphen or the huge moated Huis Bergh castle, both 50 minutes away
