Whether you’re hoping to see the Big Five (lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos and buffalo) in Tsavo East National Park (five minutes’ drive), keen to spot rare birds or simply after a leisurely getaway, staying at SafiriTents Campsite in Taita-Taveta County will be a truly unforgettable experience. This peaceful and eminently safe camping spot is 10 minutes by car from the lively town of Voi, which has all the shops and market stalls you need as well as a bunch of very welcoming residents.
Pitches are red earth, with spectacular views of mountain ranges in all directions. Facilities at this leafy spot shaded by coconut palms include a sturdy communal outdoor kitchen with grills and a firepit; if you need to cool off, there’s a tree-shaded gazebo for a bit of quiet downtime.
Parking is available for RVs, but to make your trip even easier, the site owners can arrange transportation for pick-up and drop-off at the nearest train station (10 minutes). They’ll also prepare meals for you as long as you ask in advance.
