Liked Cleanliness of the facilities, showers, loos, pools etc was really very good, the train to Central Venice is €1.50 one way from Venice Mestre station which is walkable from the Camp (40minish). also €25 day passes for the bus/train/water bus ACTV Network are available at the Venice Mestre station ticket machines...for best value. On the walk towards the Camp you will come across a exceptional Italian Restaurant called Al Calesse... Pizza and prices best in Town. Pool nice and quiet first thing in the morning.

Disliked You need ear plugs if you are in a tent to have a peaceful nights sleep, the road noise at night was constant background noise. Reception (when the pitches are available) should put Families with both Tents and small children (screaming babies) as far as possible away from other campers...

Liked Excellent location, facilities were great and very clean.

Disliked Pool was freezing (which appears to be the case in most camping facilities). Book the bus into Venice well in advance. We were not informed to do this when checking in hence couldn’t book this cause it was full. An Uber is about 50 euros..

Route directions

By train From the Venezia Mestre railway station take the bus line 15 for Marghera Panorama. After approximately 10 minutes get off at the second stop in Via Beccaria. Walk for 50 metres as far as the Pizzeria restaurant on the right, then turn right into Via della Fonte. Walk to the end, pass the sports centre and take the promenade on the left. Take the underpass and walk two minutes up to the site.

Local attractions

A 20-minute shuttle trip will take you to Venezia Tronchetto, where there are onward connections to the centre of Venice and Piazza San Marco in about 30 minutes. If you want to hail a vaporetto (water bus), pick up a ticket at the Hellovenezia office near the Calatrava Bridge to catch vaporetti all over Venice. It's cheaper to get a tourist travel card than to journey on a pay as you go basis if you're in town for longer than a day, especially if you're venturing further to the Venice Lagoon islands such as Burano or the glassmaking centre of Murano; visit these as the sun sets for spectacular vistas over the water. Leather, glassware and jewellery stalls and shops are abundant on the Rialto Bridge and the streets lining it to and from Piazza San Marco. You'll also easily be able to sort a gondola ride from here; just ask one of the gondoliers what their price is – and be sure to establish what that includes, as some of the cheaper rides don't take in all the main sights.
