  • Well-equipped site in the Dolomites, 50 minutes’ drive from Cortina
  • Selva di Cadore 10 minutes’ drive; Lago di Cadore an hour
  • Spectacular mountains views; e-bike hire; shuttle bus to ski resorts
For those who love hiking, scrambling and climbing up craggy mountains (such as Mount Pelmo, whose dramatic silhouette looms large in the distance), the Dolomites seem like a pretty sweet destination. And within this gorgeous alpine landscape, peaceful Camping Cadore (named after this mountainous region of the Veneto) welcomes active types and outdoor enthusiasts, as well as families and couples seeking rest and relaxation. Fifty minutes’ drive from Cortina d’Ampezzo, the site is remarkably well equipped. During the winter season, the owners organise free shuttle buses to the main ski resorts in the area, while in the summer, you might want to take advantage of their bike-hire service. The vehicles available are e-mountain bikes that make climbing a breeze (…ish), even if you’re not a Giro d’Italia-level cyclist. After exerting yourself on two wheels (or feet, or skis, or snowshoes), take the time to relax on site, admiring the truly spectacular surroundings, maybe with a drink from the bar, which also serves meals throughout the day, from breakfast to dinner. Those who want to prepare their own food can buy essentials and local products at the on-site minimarket, then use the various barbecue stations and picnic tables. A third alternative involves taking a short drive northbound on the SP251 road, which is dotted with restaurants, or hitting Selva di Cadore (10 minutes’ drive). Amenities on site include a pristine toilet/shower block (with hot water), washing-up stations, a launderette and charging facilities for electric vehicles.

Local attractions

In the early months of 2026, Cortina d’Ampezzo (50 minutes’ drive) was on every sports enthusiast’s TV screen as one of the settings of the Winter Olympics. You can still catch the post-Games high at this elegant alpine resort by taking a picture in front of the Olympic rings, or booking a session at the Curling Center. Deer, ibex and marmot are among the residents of the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park (50 minutes), a vast and spectacular area of forests, alpine pastures and tall granite mountains, plus extensive underground cave systems. Being in the mountains gives you access to gorgeous glacial lakes with clear waters that invite you to take a dip. Head to Lago di Cadore (an hour) when that urge strikes. The Miralago beach sits on the eastern shore of the lake, while on the western shore is the nature, thermal and archaeological area of Làgole, with a series of hot springs.
