Lounge, laze or lean any which way you want at this Tuscany park on the outskirts of Pisa and in the Migliarino - San Rossore - Massaciuccoli natural park. It's only 600 metres to a golden sandy beach and – most relaxing of all – the shuttle bus running in high season will shuttle you and your towel there and back for the bargain price of nothing at all. If you're on your way to any of Tuscany's major cities, Camping St Michael will see you sorted, as its handy location puts not only the attractions of Pisa but also day trips to more far-flung places (Florence and Siena among them) within easy reach. And if you're craving relaxing times between your urban forays, this place should see you sorted on that front too. The park is set on almost three hectares of woodland in a remote wildlife haven, giving you plenty of space to chill out even when you don't fancy the journey to the beach. Aiding that relaxed vibe is easy access to eats at the restaurant-pizzeria and to drinks at the bar (with an outdoor terrace for those heady summer evenings). If you're more of the type that thrives on active times, you'll be chuffed to note the presence of a pool, a pétanque court and a multisports field, along with a playground for the small sorts. Free wifi is available at the bar and pool areas.

Liked Stellplatz war sehr groß und schattig. Der Platz hätte Potential.

Disliked - alles muss gesondert gezahlt werden (z.B. warm Duschen, warmes Wasser zum Spülen, Schwimmbad)
- Zeit zum Duschen reicht nicht aus. Ich musste 2 mal nachladen.
- Restaurant und Einkaufsladen sind sehr überschaubar. Pizza hat aus meiner Sicht nicht wirklich die Qualität einer italienischen Pizza. Preis war grundsätzlich in Ordnung, aber der Geschmack mittelmäßig
- die Duschen sind sehr alt und die Kabinen viel zu klein
- Der Strand ist relativ weit weg und sehr klein. Der Bereich, an dem man ohne Liegen nutzen kann ist sehr klein. Liegen müssen relativ teuer bezahlt werden

Liked Great location - 10 minute walk to the campsite beach , easy drive to the Pisa park and ride making visiting Pisa and Florence simple (as the tram stops at Pisa train station). The pitches were a good size with shade and freshly raked. The facilities were clean, the pool a good size and there was a bar, shop and restaurant. The site was secure with a gate and the staff were friendly.

Disliked The toilets and showers only had air space at the top of the doors. Consequently you were sweating every time you used the facilities even after a cold shower!

Liked Pool was very nice and reception staff were nice on arrival and departure. Good location to visit Pisa.

Disliked Pitches were full of bugs and everyone on the site seemed to have bites all over them.
Food in the restaurant was of poor quality and took a long time to arrive. Restaurant staff were not welcoming and brought food at at different intervals so it was hard to eat as a family of 5. Ordered pizzas on the second night due to this and again they were extremely poor quality.
You had to pay for all extras on the site- hot shower, hot water to wash pans, to enter the pool. This should be included in the site fee.

Local attractions

The fably wonky Leaning Tower of Pisa, part of the city's cathedral, is about 14 kilometres from Camping St Michael. It's one of the many sights to see in town, where there are also several historic churches and medieval palaces, the bridges across the River Arno and the archaeological museum Cantiere delle Navi di Pisa. The port city of Livorno is also well worth a day trip and is 10 kilometres from base. Elsewhere, take to the countryside and venture out exploring the hills and cuisine of Tuscany, its pleasingly abundant wineries, its 120+ protected nature reserves, its history, its World Heritage Sites... Historic cities including Siena, Florence and Lucca are within a couple of hours' drive, as are lots of pretty villages including Barga, Forsdinavo and San Gimignano. If you've any time left/have been lucky enough to book for a couple of months, make for the seaside resorts of Viareggio, Forte dei Marmi and Versilia, all less than 45 minutes' drive away and amply endowed with sandy beaches, watersports activities and restaurants.
