  • Quiet dog-friendly site 100 metres from the beach at Marina di Massa
  • Pisa and Cinque Terre National Park within a 40-minute drive
  • Café/bar, launderette, library and electric bike hire on site
If you’re in the market for a whole lot of beach time on your holiday, then Camping Village Luna is a great place to base yourselves – this Tuscany site is a mere 100 metres from the beach, in a location between the resorts of Marina di Carrara and Marina di Massa. The sandy beach (which has both free and serviced areas) may well be the focus of much of your time here, but it’s not the only useful thing close by – the handy location between two resorts means that there are plenty of shops and places to eat within walking distance too (and there’s a bus stop just outside for those times when you’d rather get around by public transport). If you don’t fancy walking very far at all, you can instead avail yourselves of the café/bar on site, which sells fresh croissants for breakfast and then a large choice of drinks, ice creams and other goodies throughout the day and into the evening. Need to work up an appetite? Hire electric bikes on site or book trips to take you out to nearby places of interest. Rather just put your feet up? Borrow something from the small library on site. This park is on the quieter side, with an emphasis on relaxation rather than lots of lively activities. That means you won’t find heaps of leisure facilities here, but all the essentials are covered – guests all have access to wifi, a launderette and a bathroom block with toilets and showers. Dogs are welcome to join you for a stay at Camping Village Luna.

Local attractions

If you can tear yourselves away from the beach, there’s much more to see and do along this stretch of coastline – you could keep it local by cycling to Forte dei Marmi (half an hour by bike) to see the town’s pier and sculptures, or aim further afield for a walk between the colourful villages of Cinque Terre National Park (40 minutes’ drive) or a boat trip from Porto Venere (50 minutes). Inland is just as attractive, of course, especially if you make your way into the Apuan Alps Regional Park (40 minutes) for some time spent hiking, climbing or mountain biking. The Pietro Pellegrini Botanic Garden (35 minutes) is a popular spot to head for in the park, as is the Monte Corchia cave system (an hour). And if you’d like to include some of Tuscany’s top cities, that’s possible too – perhaps Pisa (40 minutes), Florence (an hour and a half) or Siena (two hours) would take your fancy?
