  • Family-friendly site outside Marina di Grossetto, with beach shuttle
  • Next to an adventure park and the Maremma Natural Park
  • Pool, restaurants, fitness trail, archery and gym classes
Mmmm, just check out that beach… a sandy swathe, with a serviced area, a natural area, beach volleyball, a beach bar – it’s enough to have you grabbing your towel and legging it down there prontissimo... The Grosseto province's Cieloverde Camping Village is in the Tuscan Maremma, between Marina di Grosseto and Principina a Mare, bordering the Maremma Natural Park, in a pine forest and overlooking a stretch of the Silver Coast with a sandy beach that slopes gently into the clear sea. It’s less than a kilometre to the gorgeous sands, but if you don’t fancy the walk you can be whisked down on the free shuttle (an excellent idea on scorching days or with wriggling tiddlers in tow). Or perhaps you’d prefer to pedal down there on the quiet path through the woods...? The beach may be close by but it may take you some time to get there, given the site’s many distractions – the open-air pool, the archery range, the pétanque court or the volleyball and football games. There’s also a 2.8-kilometre fitness trail running around various bits of gym kit, and all sorts of exercise classes for those who’d like to buff up their beach bod (or just may have pigged out on pasta). Eats are a pretty important part of days spent here too: take your pick from the main restaurant, the American-themed steakhouse and the pizzeria, or pick up cool treats at the bar or ice cream parlour. Post-dinner entertainment often comes in the form of open-air movies, live music or strutting your stuff on the dance floor.

Local attractions

Beaches, but of course… there are several kilometres of splendid sand along this stretch of coast. Surfing, kitesurfing and paddleboarding are available for those who’d like to take to the water, and there’s a riding centre a couple of kilometres away in Marina di Grosseto where you can canter through the surf. Next to the site is an adventure park with ziplines and canopy rope courses; if you fancy exploring the forest at ground level, there are some lovely walks and bike rides to be had in the coastal Maremma Natural Park, where you may spot wild sheep and deer as you wend your way down to the sea. Leaving the coast behind for a little while, a half hour drive into the hills will take you to the archaeological sites of Roselle and Vetulonia; the arty city of Siena is just over an hour’s drive away.
