General

  • By the sea in Marina di Grosseto, overlooking the island of Elba
  • Dog park, dog showers and dog-friendly beach nearby
  • Treetop adventure course, private beach, beach bar and restaurant

Safe, serene and with direct access to a private stretch of Maremma Coast sand – with its own foodie pub – what a beaut this Tuscan site is.

Camping Le Marze Boschetto is on the Tuscan coastline, by the sea in Marina di Grosseto, overlooking the Island of Elba and right in the depths of a maritime pine forest covering over 20 hectares. It has direct access to its own private beach, stacks of stuff to do on site (including a treetop adventure park; how fab), regular activities, and its own dog park (also fab) and dog showers (fabbest).

If you're hitting the beach first (smart), it's a short and walk from Camping Le Marze Boschetto through the thickly cool pine forest to the site's own peaceful and private beach, surrounded by more gloriously golden sands stretching for kilometres to connect the famed fishing town of Castiglione della Pescaia with the Natural Park of Maremma.

The blue Tyrrhenian Sea waters here are clear, clean and safe for small splashers: let the tiddlers paddle while you bask under a parasol with a drink from the splendid Camping Le Marze Boschetto beach bar. Open every day in high season, the bar dishes up fresh morning pastries, snacks and sarnies, drinks and cocktails, and as many types of coffee as you could shake a stirrer at. Appetiser and live music/DJ nights are regularly arranged in summer.

The many leisure activities at your Grosseto province base include a family-friendly treetop adventure course, made up of seven paths winding around Tibetan and axe bridges, barrels and pulleys (instructors are on hand to show you the ropes if you need help). Another must is the fab pool, lifeguarded and parasols and sun loungers alongside; more actively, there are ping pong tables and tennis, fishing and bike hire, and a fine big playground under the trees with loads of room all around.

Activities run from morning to night for all ages, ranging from baby dance every evening in the amphitheatre, to cabaret, music and variety shows around the site. Sports activities and a kids' club are arranged during the day: there's something on almost every hour here, so even fussy sorts should find something to dive into.

Traditional Maremman dishes, local wines, fresh meat, fish, wood oven pizzas and kids' menus are among the options at the restaurant, set spaciously on a patio under the pine forest.

Please note

The outdoor swimming pool is open between 15/06 and 08/09 (subject to weather conditions).

Local attractions

The site is 10 minutes' drive or 15 minutes by bus from theTuscany seaside resort of Marina di Grosseto, famed for its wide beaches overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea as well as its huge pine forest running from Punta Ala to the Uccellina Mountain. From here it's 12 kilometres to province capital Grosseto, an ancient city with 16th-century walls, a 15th-century cathedral and the comely Palazzo Aldobrandeschi.

Grosseto is the place to book excursions into the Tuscan countryside and around its seas, such as day trips to the islands of Elba or Gigo, the city of Siena, and Punta Ala, the popular seaside resort and frazione of Castiglione della Pescaia.

Porto Santo Stefano and Porto Ercole are two beaut port towns about an hour south of the site, on the Monte Argentario peninsula 35 kilometres from Grosseto. For active days and nature spotting, go hiking and cycling in the Colline Metallifere hills or around the Maremma Coast and its nature park.
