Keen to explore all corners of Florence, but not eager to give up on the idea of a green, outdoorsy base? Here's an excellent solution: hu Firenze Camping in Town is only five kilometres from the centre of Florence, but set in a green, wooded park on the banks of the Arno river, with a splendid view of the hills surrounding Florence. It has access to the city via two easy, convenient routes: grab a shuttle or public bus from the bus stop a few metres away from the site entrance or get into the city by following the riverside cycle path on foot or by bicycle. Adult and kids’ bikes can be hired on site. Cool off back at base with a dip in one of the pools (open during high season only; a most welcome sight on a hot day in the city): dive into the main pool for an energetic swim, or have a more gentle splash about in the leisure pool, with fountains and other fun things to mess about with. Poolside basking is also an option, either on the loungers around the sun terrace or with drinks on the bar terrace that handily overlooks the water. And it’s not just drinks on offer at the bar… it’s also open in the mornings for a breakfast buffet (extra charge) and later serves up a menu of Italian classics at lunch and dinner, including some particularly fine pizzas. There’s also a very well-stocked mini market on site.

Liked Everything! Excellent reception staff, so helpful. Fantastic shower and toilet block, excellent washing up facilities. Very close to bus stop to get to central Florence, buy tickets at reception. Excellent shop, cafe.

Liked Ein toller Campingplatz. Direkt am Radweg nach Florenz. Sehr freundlich. Der Platzwart an der Einfahrt empfängt einen strahlend. Sanitär super sauber und großzügig. Hatten eine gute Zeit.

Disliked Trockner Bedienfeld nicht gefunden. IBefindet sich unterhalb an der Waschmaschine.
Nachts kehrt erst sehr spät richtig Ruhe ein. Hat uns aber nicht gestört.

Static caravan (deluxe, three person)

Liked Wir waren für 2 Nächte auf diesem wunderbaren Campingplatz in einem Bungalow untergebracht. Die Einrichtung ist zweckmäßig, sehr sauber und gleicht dem Ambiente eines Hotelzimmers mit Dusche und WC. Es gibt ausreichend Platz für Koffer, Tasche und Kleidung. Wir waren nicht nur von der Innenausstattung begeistert, sondern auch von den Möglichkeiten im Restaurant zu essen, im Shop einzukaufen und im Sommer dann auch einen Pool nutzen zu können. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich. Der Zeltplatz ist mit viel Grün eingebettet und ist trotz der Lage im Zentrum der Stadt sehr ruhig gelegen. Auch die Anbindung mit dem Bus Nummer 14 auf der anderen Straßenseite des Campingplatzes ist optimal. In ca. 20 min ist man ohne Stress und Parkpkatzsuche im Zentrum angelangt.
Wir sind sehr erholt und mit vielen schönen Erlebnissen wieder zurück in die Heimat gefahren und kommen gerne wieder hierher. Sogar Freunde aus Florenz waren über diese Lage und den Komfort sehr angetan.

Disliked Negatives können wir gar nicht berichten. Das einzige, was mir aufgefallen war, ist die Qualität des Kaffees im Buffet- Angebot. Er schmeckt wie löslicher Kaffee. Das ist schade. Aber es gibt im Restaurant auch eine Kaffeebar. Dort gibt es andere Varianten. Diese sind dann aber zuzüglich zu begleichen.
Aber das kann jeder für sich entscheiden, wo und wie die Prioritäten gesetzt werden...

Liked Very nice place near Firenze. We had our bikes with us and its really great to go by bike to the town.

Disliked The shower cubicle is for ladies in XS or greater childs. The partition panel is not really to save your cloths and shoes for getting wet.

The site is approximately five kilometres from the Firenze Sud exit on the A1/E35 motorway. It is one kilometre from the Firenze Rovezzano train station, which is well-connected to Florence's central Santa Maria Novella station. Public bus line 14 stops a few metres from the site entrance, on Via Generale Dalla Chiesa. From the centre of Florence, you can take the bus (heading towards Girone) from the front of Santa Maria Novella station.

Local attractions

It’d be a fine idea to plan several days out in central Florence, allowing you to see all the top sights without having to race around too much. The Uffizi gallery can fill a day on its own, and you’ll no doubt also want to be seeing the cathedral (which had the world’s largest dome at the time of its design), the Ponte Vecchio, Palazzo Vecchio, Giotto’s bell tower, the medieval Santa Croce church, Michelangelo’s David at the Accademia Gallery… All that history and art can become a little overwhelming if crammed into a short space of time, so make sure to factor in a bit of downtime – perhaps with a cruise down the Arno river on a traditional wooden boat or a stroll through the gorgeous Boboli and Bardini gardens (particularly fine places to be around sunset for their city skyline views). For a change of scenery, it’ll take you around an hour to get to Siena or Arezzo by car. Similarly, the wineries around San Gimignano are about an hour’s drive away.
