Keen to explore all corners of Florence, but not eager to give up on the idea of a green, outdoorsy base? Here's an excellent solution: hu Firenze Camping in Town is only five kilometres from the centre of Florence, but set in a green, wooded park on the banks of the Arno river, with a splendid view of the hills surrounding Florence. It has access to the city via two easy, convenient routes: grab a shuttle or public bus from the bus stop a few metres away from the site entrance or get into the city by following the riverside cycle path on foot or by bicycle. Adult and kids’ bikes can be hired on site. Cool off back at base with a dip in one of the pools (open during high season only; a most welcome sight on a hot day in the city): dive into the main pool for an energetic swim, or have a more gentle splash about in the leisure pool, with fountains and other fun things to mess about with. Poolside basking is also an option, either on the loungers around the sun terrace or with drinks on the bar terrace that handily overlooks the water. And it’s not just drinks on offer at the bar… it’s also open in the mornings for a breakfast buffet (extra charge) and later serves up a menu of Italian classics at lunch and dinner, including some particularly fine pizzas. There’s also a very well-stocked mini market on site.

Static caravan (deluxe, three person)

Liked Me gustó el check-in, y como nos recibierón. Fuimos a un bungalow y estaba todo perfecto, limpio y correcto. El camping esta muy bien, piscina con socorrista, supermercado, parada de bus cerca etc...

Disliked Personalmente me gustaría tener siempre la misma plaza de parking numerada como el bungalow. Añadir que hay aparcamiento igualmente. Tambien la zona de reciclage de residuos eché en falta más containers para reciclar correctamente.

Le bus est juste à la sortie du camping

Disliked Les sanitaires sont à peine propres, vu le passage un troisième service de nettoyage serait pas du luxe au regard du tarif pratiqué. J' ai trouvé ça cher pour un Van 230 euros pour 2 nuits pour 4 .

Liked Un camping magnifique aménagé de façon paradisiaque. Tout est parfait, que ce soit la modernité des sanitaires ou les 3 piscines fabuleuses. Aucun souci pour trouver un transat libre, il y en a largement assez pour tout le monde. Le restaurant est très cosy et on y mange bien à un tarif correct. Bref, c'est le plus joli camping dans lequel nous ayons séjourné. L'endroit en réalité est bien plus joli que ce qu'on voit sur le net. Il y règne une excellente ambiance. A conseiller sans modération. Le grand plus est la proximité immédiate avec Florence avec un arrêt de bus directement devant le camping. De nombreux bus à toute heure, tout pour se sentir bien.

Route directions

The site is approximately five kilometres from the Firenze Sud exit on the A1/E35 motorway. It is one kilometre from the Firenze Rovezzano train station, which is well-connected to Florence's central Santa Maria Novella station. Public bus line 14 stops a few metres from the site entrance, on Via Generale Dalla Chiesa. From the centre of Florence, you can take the bus (heading towards Girone) from the front of Santa Maria Novella station.

Local attractions

It’d be a fine idea to plan several days out in central Florence, allowing you to see all the top sights without having to race around too much. The Uffizi gallery can fill a day on its own, and you’ll no doubt also want to be seeing the cathedral (which had the world’s largest dome at the time of its design), the Ponte Vecchio, Palazzo Vecchio, Giotto’s bell tower, the medieval Santa Croce church, Michelangelo’s David at the Accademia Gallery… All that history and art can become a little overwhelming if crammed into a short space of time, so make sure to factor in a bit of downtime – perhaps with a cruise down the Arno river on a traditional wooden boat or a stroll through the gorgeous Boboli and Bardini gardens (particularly fine places to be around sunset for their city skyline views). For a change of scenery, it’ll take you around an hour to get to Siena or Arezzo by car. Similarly, the wineries around San Gimignano are about an hour’s drive away.
