Good camping site with good views, friendly staff and clean facilities 16/08/2016

  • Electric optional grass pitch

We enjoyed this camping site, and the staff were very friendly. The facilities are good with a bar /meals, clean toilets, showers, washing-up facilities, and washing machines (Euro 3.50 when we stayed in 2016). The swimming pool was very nice in the hot weather, although not huge. The views are nice across the Tuscan landscape.

The pitches are nice and flat, although not very big (we had a large tent) and close together. The WiFi was intermittent when we stayed.

Local attractions

Discover the region and its main cities: Florence, Siena, Pisa, San Gimignano, Certaldo and Volterra

Florence (33km away) is like a huge open-air museum, the city has an abundance of palaces, churches, a magnificent cathedral, the Baptistery, Uffizi, Bargello, and the Accademia. Santa Maria Novella and Santa Croce or the San Lorenzo library. Wander around the city, cross the Arno River via the Ponte Vecchio, or visit the Pitti Palace.

Siena (42km from the site) is a pretty medieval city with a central piazza known as Campo - famous for the annual Palio (and the James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace!). Don't miss the Palazzo Pubblico and its tower, Torre del Mangia, the Duomo of Siena or the Sala del Concistoro.

Pisa (75km away) - visit the marvellous riverbanks on the Arno, the majestic Duomo and the other two leaning towers of San Nicola Church and the San Michele degli Scalzi (what's wrong with leaning towers?!). For a day out in the natural world, visit the San Rossore Nature Park

The Chianti region is known for its wine, of course! Explore the vineyards that produce the finest red: Chianti, Brunello, Morellino, Nobile di Montepulciano, Carmignano, Vernaccia di San Gimignano, Morellino di Scansano.

Don't forget the forests, isolated villages, castles, abbeys and little gems such as Barberino Val d'Elsa, Greve in Chianti, Radda, Gaiole, Castellina, and Castelnuovo Berardenga.
