  • Remote Sicily seaside site 30 metres from the beach
  • Within easy reach of the UNESCO-listed city of Ragusa
  • Book yachting, diving, paragliding and quad biking tours on site
If, by some minute chance, you ever tire of all the seaside watersports activities, paragliding and winery excursions, quad biking trails and horse riding highlights around Camping Rocca dei Tramonti, you can take a day trip out to one of the area's many archaeological sites or visit the UNESCO-listed city of Ragusa instead. A very family-friendly site, Camping Rocca dei Tramonti is surrounded by cliffs in the seaside resort of Punta Braccetto, nine kilometres from the ancient town of Santa Croce Camerina and between the Iblei Mountains and the southern Sicilian coast. This is a splendidly peaceful family park surrounded by cliffs and only 30 metres from Punta Braccetto beach for heaps of watersports: the friendly team here arranges beach-based activities such as yachting, diving, paragliding and inflatable/banana/jet boat rides out to explore the village of Secca and the creeks and coves along the nearby coastline. Also organised on site are guided horse riding and quad biking tours of Aleppo Pine Reserve, plus visits to local wine cellars and other excellent local attractions. As for your more relaxed leisure time at the park, you can laze around in the shade of your pitch, dine with other guests in the communal barbecue area – or you could just mingle around the wifi-enabled relaxation area (it really is all about peace and quiet around here) to post holiday snaps online for all at home to see what a smashing time you're having. Other facilities at the park include a playground and a TV room. Pitches are spacious and well-shaded, and among the amenities are accessible toilets, cold showers and coin-operated hot showers, as well as a laundry room and a washing-up area. You're about 30 kilometres from the UNESCO-listed ancient city of Ragusa, and 15 minutes' drive to the busier spot of Santa Croce Camerina, where there are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants to keep you supplied and sated. One restaurant lies within walking distance of Camping Rocca dei Tramonti.

Local attractions

Ragusa – the province's ancient capital and one of the eight spectacular cities of the Val di Noto UNESCO World Heritage Site – is within easy reach by car from Camping Rocca dei Tramonti. In highly scenic fashion, the city's Ragusa Ibla and Upper Town sit atop a limestone hill between two deep ravines and filled with fine ancient buildings of Greek, Roman, Arabic and Baroque influence; this place is well worth a trip out to while you're in this part of the world. Another sight worth seeing is the UNESCO-listed Necropolis of Pantalica; a collection of around 4,000 tombs carved out of rock and dating back to a period between the 7th and 13th centuries BC, this ancient cemetery is set on a limestone promontory between the towns of Ferla and Sortino and, once again, makes for a splendid vista. While you're there, try a hike around the surrounding gorge formed by the Anapo and Calcinara rivers to make the very most of the smashing scenery. Also within easy reach of Camping Rocca dei Tramonti are Comiso, Vittoria and two more cities of the Val di Noto UNESCO World Heritage Site – Modica and Noto – as well as the tiny fishing village of Punta Secca with its beaches and a marina that attracts cruising boats and a local fishing fleet.
