Swoop over to Sicily for an especially scenic sojourn at Villaggio Turistico Marinello on the Tindari promontory in Nebrodi and right next door to the Lakes of Marinello Reserve, a protected seafront area known for its spectacular lakes and spacious beaches. Not that you’ll need to go far from this top park to stretch out on your own slice of stunning shoreline: it edges a pebbly and sandy beach on one side that slopes gently into the ocean on the island’s Tyrrhenian coastline. And yes, being able to sunbathe under the Sicilian rays so close to home does indeed mean you can easily nip back home to pick up food at the restaurant, pizzeria and small shop on site or for a mid-afternoon beer at the bar’s patio with views out over the sea… For folk eager to take on energetic activities as well as getting in a bit of well-deserved rest, Villaggio Turistico Marinello has you sorted with its tennis, basketball and volleyball courts, along with chances to reel in a couple of fine specimens while fishing; it organises windsurfing classes and rental at its watersports school too and has a playground and games room to keep the kids active (as well as tired out enough for early bedtimes so you can head back over to the bar for a peaceful sundowner or two…). Traditional trattorias for a drink or some eats are also in the centre of the village of Oliveri, around a 15-minute walk away, which has a train station if you’re travelling around Sicily without your own wheels. The park has bike rental as well, and organises tours of swish Sicilian sights like the Aeolian Islands, Mount Etna, the Greek theatre of Taormina and the coastal city of Cefalù.

Liked La posizione e’ il top, la semplicità, varie attività vicine al campeggio (gonfiabili, pedalò ecc) brioche super buone ed economiche, docce calde, le piazzole sono ombreggiate da alberi altissimi, i ragazzi sia della reception che del bar molto cordiali.

Disliked In alcune piazzole vicine all’impianto di scarico c’era cattivo odore, le vespe e i bagni sono vecchi ma c’è da considerare che è un campeggio del 1967, andrebbe ripreso un po’ in mano

Disliked Place is a little run down and scruffy, Facility maintenance is Ok but not great. Had a very, very, very loud rock festival nearby the whole night through.

Liked Solo la posizione era buona perchè vicino al mare.

Disliked Ma tutto il resto non mi è piaciuto. A partire dalla pulizia, bagni sporchi, personale non adeguato, soprattutto il ragazzo del controllo notturno e la guardia notturna, maleducati, irrispettosi perché non ci hanno fatti entrare con la macchina elettrica nel campeggio, nonostante noi educatamente abbiamo fatto presente che i nostri figli stavano dormendo. Hanno iniziato a fare questioni e a dare problemi inutilmente. Si sono appellati a delle regole, che però per tutta la nostra vacanza non abbiamo visto regole, infatti dalle 14 alle 16 si fa silenzio e invece c'è chi urla, chi parla a voce alta chi mette musica; quindi parlate di regole che non esistono in nessun orario del giorno e della notte.
Ah dimenticavo abbiamo passato 4 notti a sentire puzza di fognatura ma una puzza incredibile non si riusciva neanche a respirare a qualsiasi ora della giornata.

Liked Der Platz war sehr schön gelegen in einem Eukalyptus Wald. Sanitär war immer sauber, klar in die Jahre gekommen aber alles war vorhanden, auch Toilettenpapier. Alle waren sehr nett. Der Strand direkt am Naturschutzgebiet. Das war sehr schön. Insgesamt hat es uns sehr gefallen.

Liked Sehr nah am Meer. Toller Strand mit atemberaubendem Blick auf die Berge. Gute Infrastruktur, nah zum Strandtrubel mit Restaurants und Bars.
Gute große Stellplätze.
Facilities in Ordnung.
Preiswert.
Es gehört ein wunderschön gelegenes Restaurant/Bar zum Platz.

Disliked Sehr groß, sehr voll, Sauberkeit na ja.
Viel Trubel.
Im Restaurant bis 21 Uhr laute Musik.

Liked I think this is the best site in Sicily. Right on the beach, next to the nature reserve. A 10min walk to Oliveri. A lovely walk up the hill to Tindari.
The bar/restaurant was open for Labor Day but usually doesn’t usually open til 1st June. Shop not open.
The pitches are between trees offering lots of shade

Disliked Don’t use the washing machines. The first one broke with our clothes in, the second left everything wet and soapy

Platz ein sehr schönes Naturschutz Gebiet. Sehr schöne Wanderung vom Platz aus möglich.

Disliked Die laute Musik am Wochenende hat etwas irritiert( Techno), war aber zeitlich bis 21 befristet und deshalb erträglicher.

Further afield are Sicilian beaches like those off the fishing village of Capo d’Orlando (45 minutes) and at Milazzo (30 minutes), where you can also spy the remains of a citadel and castle.
