General
- Friendly family site on the UNESCO-listed Sinis peninsula
- Watersports and boat trips to Mal di Ventre island from Mandriola
- A short drive to Cape Mannu's surfing beaches and archeological sites
Many mighty fortunate folk have been welcoming guests to Sardinia's Is Arenas Camping Village since way back in 1961. And why are these folk so mighty fortunate? There are reasons aplenty: first up, their workplace is on sublime Sardinia, a land of golden sandy beaches, deep blue waters and archaeological piles.
Even more fably, their site is on the UNESCO-listed Sinis peninsula, at the foot of the Montiferru massif and deep in Sardinia's biggest pine grove. More? There's direct access from here to a beaut six-kilometre beach, edging the nearby Oristano province town of Narbolia. An 18-hole golf course, also deep within the forest, is within easy teeing-off distance.
The peninsula is an utterly spectacular part of Sardinia, edged with beaches that are a hit with surfers and windsurfers from all over the world. To the north is stunning Capo Mannu, where the waves host surfing, windsurfing and kiteboarding competitions including the famed Capo del Capo.
Is Arenas Camping Village is a family-friendly site set up for Sardinian hols of all flavours, from earnest sandcastle-building competitions on the beach 200 metres away to more active options watersporting, hiking and wildlife watching in the forest. Fishing is available straight from the site.
Kids have table tennis, swings, slides and table football to tackle, among several areas set aside for play. The site also has summer entertainment for lively evenings and a TV room for times indoors.
Whatever type of hol you go for, feed up at the site restaurant, open all day for bites and drinks from breakfast to supper. Fresh local fruit, veg, local cheeses, cold meats and other regional products are sold in the site market.

Location
Local attractions
Networked by streams, dotted with waterfalls and covered with maquis shrubland and wild forests of evergreen oak, the UNESCO-listed Sinis peninsula has options galore for hiking, wildlife spotting and birdwatching.
Even by Sardinian standards, the area surrounding the site is especially famed for watersports too. Rent windsurf kit, sailing boats, motor boats and other equipment on the east side of Cape Mannu at Mandriola, or take your board to the cape waves hankered after by surfers from all over the world.
More peacefully, arrange a scuba diving excursion or a boat trip to the island of Mal di Ventre from Mandriola, or have a heritage day among the several areas of historical and archaeological importance on this part of the peninsula, such as the ancient city of Tharros near the village of San Giovanni di Sinis.
Also within easy reach is the beach of Is Arutas, famed for its rice-grain sands made up of millions of pieces of pink, white and green quartz.
